I still think J Edgar is a petty terrible actor, but he grew on me.
I know a lot of people think Jamie hector (j Edgar) is a shitty actor, but the character's somewhat stoic personality just works for me and I've never had a problem with him.

Her--and her family--are die-hard Auburn fans. Apologies if that bit of trivia sours your opinion of her, lol

I enjoy the back and forth between Bosch & J Edgar. His sartorial concerns are hilarious to me, along with Bosch's world weary, but caring attitude toward his younger partner. Both actors nail their characters imo. Show is filled with many interesting and well played personalities on this underrated series.

I love lance reddick as the chief. Between this role and the wire, I don't know if anyone plays a better police commander.
Jimmy Robertson was great too.
Unfortunately, neither the ktk or the homeless/ex military murder plot line interested me that much.
Still loved it and already finished it.

Agree. He makes a great concierge also.

Spoilers I guess
So why exactly did the crackhead special forces guy get murdered anyway? He had some of the money? Knew too much?

5 episodes in, and I'm gonna give a shot at finishing it up today. Liking what I've seen so far. I'd thought a few of the secondary storylines were gonna be throwaway filler (for example, what Lt. Billets is going through), but even those subplots are building into something intriguing too.
My only nitpick is Bosch's house...it's a beautiful place, and I understand the reason how he was able to afford it...but man, given the amount of enemies he's made past & present, you'd think he'd live in a place where he wouldn't be such an easy target. Numerous times, someone could've taken him out without ever stepping on his property...

I like how they are trying to incorporate some of the book themes into the show, but I don't like how they've perverted the "black echo" terminology.
That's the title of his debut book so I see why they wanted to use it, but "the black echo" was about when you're climbing through tunnels looking for the Vietcong as Harry was a bomb locator/diffuser guy. They've now changed it into this theme about getting separated from your team while surveiling someone?
Don't love the tweak, but I guess that's my only real book nerd complaint.

Just some thoughts from someone who has not read any of the books. Does Bosch's mother's death play a prominent role in the books, as "spoiler", it continues to play in the show? Also, props to J Edgar, his role really ramped up big time. Love Maddie busting dad's chops. Already looking forward to next season.

Finished it up last night. Enjoyed it alot, looking forward to next season already. It was balanced nicely where there's plenty to expect for next season, but at the same time enough things were wrapped up where I don't feel like I got left hanging.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
Off the top of my head...with KTK still at large, J Edgar at odds with Bosch, Irving knowing he's working for a possible murderer (and also knowing Bosch isn't gonna sit quietly over it), and what seems like Bosch's ex has brought some troublesome baggage with her, season 4 is gonna have its plate full already...

Is it just me, or is it annoying that they retrace back to his mom's murder during the final 30 minutes in the last episode of each season?
Just give us a full season dedicated to it (although I expect that to happen in s4). It would have been much more interesting than the homeless/ex military storyline.

It's been so long I am doing a complete rewatch of season 1 and 2, on episode 3 of season two now, this show is so damn good.

Yea, it's usually a secondary or even tertiary storyline in each book.
Personally I like it, but I guess I could see how folks don't.

I'm getting some serious Nina Meyers vibes from ole Eleanor.
I don't think she intentionally means to, but I could see her becoming someone who is somewhat of an antagonist due to some mistakes she's made that come back to bite her.
I've read the first 4 books and then quit so I'm excited about getting new storylines. Maddie will likely keep them from swinging Eleanor bad, but they're definitely setting something up with her.

Yeah, unless I missed it, I don't think Eleanor ever gave an answer about Reggie's whereabouts, and she was asked at least two times that I can remember. Could be a possible subplot for S4...
