Holy shite the dialogue and story is unbelievable. What a wild first season. The only complaint is how they ease you into the drama but episode 4-13 is some the best TV I've seen in a long time.
I hope some awards go to this show.
Danny and Coach Taylor gave Emmy winning performances.

Yep....One of the best shows I've seen in a long time....Acting, soundtrack, story, pacing....All first class..
Danny & John (Coach Taylor) are both nominated, and rightfully so.

I agree completely! I loved the first season!
And as I said in the thread a week or so ago, I make my wife laugh by walking around the house saying "Damnit Danny" in my best Coach T voice.

Bloodline was really great. Looking forward to Season 2. This is how TV should be, people. Not that formulaic terrible network stuff. The production values on these Netflix originals is movie quality.

I agree... outstanding.
SPOILERS:
I liked how at some point or other I would get pissed off at each character, all for different reasons. Kevin's a beta, Danny's whack, the mother is a suckup, the sister was a drama queen and her fiance was an annoying wimp. The writing of these characters was fantastic.

My favorite was Danny. Yea he was a frick up but I just don't think the show will live up to the expectations in the second season. Danny made the show for me.

i loved it up until the end.
spoilers
i really dont think Danny pushed Coach T enough for him to just do what he did and how he did it. I mean if it was a gun or something then that is a spur of the moment decision to pull the trigger. but drowning you have to hold him down for a while. A while to think about what you are doing.
IDK i just didnt like that part. Cant wait for the 2nd season one one think i didnt get was who was the guy that saw Coach T and kevin at Dannys miami condo wearing the Hotels shirt? was it the son?

SPOILERS
We (wife and I) discussed that but Danny made the very obvious threat on his daughter's life. Would he have actually done it? It never felt that way to me, but the threat was there.
Plus, it wasn't premeditated, which would have been very unbelievable.

I don't know, it was not just the spur of the moment, John was already going to go off because of the boat ride, swimming trip and giving his daughter the necklace. When he defied with "Beg me...." John loses it.

ETA: SPOILERS (Which judging by the last few posts just needs to be in the title at this point)
Somebody said that here and I had not thought of that until they said it. I thought it was the friend of the family who was the detective. He seems to still be snooping around and he knew years ago that the family would do anything for each other if it meant covering up a crime.

Ya, that's who I assumed it was as well. He later says to the Mother they are "lying to her" so I figured he witnessed the ransacking. But being a TV show they are probably setting us up for a red herring.

only reason not to think it was Dannys son was because he had a shirt from the hotel, unless danny was sending him stuff throughout his life.

spoilers:
I loved that first season, but I agree with Farva, i didn't love the ending.
I couldn't believe that John's character would've snapped to the point of killing Danny. I mean shite, he is a cop, and he could've just locked his arse up for threatening his family. I didn't like how it built up with Danny, and then bam, he is drowned by John. Danny was without a doubt my favorite character and pretty much was the driving force behind the show.
I think that season 2 will be good, as the plot lines will still be interesting. I really am going to miss Danny though.
Did anyone find it kind of ridiculous that Meg agreed to represent Carlos in a criminal case when she doesn't practice criminal law, or anything remotely close to criminal law?
I might be off base here, but I didn't think that lawyers cross specialties like that, even the circumstance of "helping someone out."
Seeing the actor that played Eric O'Bannon go from playing a life-long frick-up to a hard-arse Lieutenant in Fear of the Walking Dead is amusing. Good actor, though.
Anywho, one of the draws of this show for me is that it is set in the Keys, one of my favorite places I have ever been. Makes me want to go back so bad.
p.s.
Kevin is a BITCH.

Loved the show. Only thing I couldn't figure was what was the big damn deal about being a Rayburn? They owned a hotel and it was like they were royalty or something.

I agree. It does get annoying whenever the kids say our family doesn't do that or some shite like that

I think that they were just very well liked, and had a successful Inn in a place where there are very few year-round residents. They were very active in the community, and their Inn had become a historic landmark.

SPOILERS:
My theory: Yes it was his son. Additionally, Danny named his son after John, which is why all of those envelopes (with the money) were addressed to John Rayburn.
I thought Danny's death was done pretty well. With all of the sh*t Danny put the family through and finally his clearly psychotic threat on John's daughter, I saw it as at least a semi-rational response.
And to the person asking about lawyer's changing specialties like that. No, it's not often done, but in a small community like that I can see a lawyer having to dabble in criminal law occasionally for friends etc...

I didn't find it completely unbelievable, but I did find it somewhat odd, especially since the person she was helping out was a seemingly insignificant former worker-but I suppose that speaks of why they are so well-liked in the community.

I agree that it warranted a "snap," but I just didn't believe that John had that in him.
However, there were quite a few allusions to how different John used to be as a person, with little explanation.
