Tombstone.

Wyatt Earp

One is probably closer to the real man but the other had more meaty scenes and lines. Though the line "Dave Rudibaugh is an ignorant scoundrel;I disapprove of his very existence. I considered ending it myself on several occasions, but......self control got the better of me. Besides, I am a sporting man...not a killer." is worth watching for Quaid's delivery.

And pretty much Powers Booth is Curly Bill for all times. No competition.

How is this even a question? Kilmer's Holliday is one of the greatest movie characters of all time

I'm leaning towards Val...with an assist to the makeup dept. That sumbitch looked sick as hell-and because I use "I'm your huckleberry" line all the time.

Kilmer. You just can't beat the lines he was given.

It's Kilmer, and this isn't even a fair fight.

Quaid...more believable and truer to the character.

Dennis Quaid's Doc Holliday is closer to the real man. Dennis has the correct accent that Doc likely had, as he was from Georgia. Dennis also has lost a lot of weight to play him correctly, as Doc was always rail thin, and by the time he was in Tombstone a very sick man with a bad case of TB.

Val's is all flash and show which is good for movies. Val's accent is pure Virginian.

SO I would say Dennis hands down not close.

I'm sorry I thought we were discussing movies. Not history channel documentaries.

Gotta be Kilmer. Although I do respect Dennis Quaid's version of holliday.

Read the topic head,.....Best Doc Holliday?

No case at all for Val, to large, wrong accent, and a great show for a movie.

Dennis is far closer to Doc than Val.

The question wasn't which one was more historically accurate..it was which one was "best" in the context of the movie. It's Kilmer and it's not even close.

Watching clips of this now,
I just realized the Mayor of Tombstone was John Locke.

Mind fricking blown.

I like Kilmer but I liked Quaid better by a wide margin.

Everything is Tombstone was ramped up and over the top. I love me some Tombstone but I like Earp just as much although it could have used some additional editing.

Kilmer took the makeup route to look sick. Quaid looks like he went on a long term starvation diet.

I've read several history books on John Henry holiday and it seems Quaids character was probably more true to life, but Kilmers is a helluva lot more entertaining.

The scene linked for the Dennis Quaid one is a great scene.

Wyatt just nods or shakes his head, and there is an understanding between the two.

Great scene actually.
