I mean, they have to be actors, right? No real man would cry on national television when not given a rose by a professional attention whore...right? Please tell me dudes like this don't exist in real life, baws.

It's a ratings thing. My cousin was on during season four, he said that if a guy didn't start crying quick enough they had a producer right off camera with mace to get the desired reaction.

I have a friend that has worked on those production crews and he says they manipulate the frick out of everyone on the show. Off camera they talk to them and get ideas in their heads. They say "i heard such and such said this.. said that." they pose as regular low-level stage hands an try to act like they are breaking protocol by talking to you. They get people in 1 on 1 situations and say that the dude is crazy about you but he's gotta pretend like he's into the other chicks and complete the rounds in order to get paid. They tell people that other contestants are lying about their hookups and that theirs was the only genuine one they saw. They told chicks that the bachelor begged the producers to let him on another date with her and so on and so forth. So yeah they are devastated when reality sets in.

Scripted but also look at the dudes chicks are attracted too in a lot of the country. I live in the northeast and they all want these hipster homo pussy arse bitches for the most part. It's comical

My wife is addicted to these shows and the seasons with guys are comical. I often catch myself watching with her asking her questions just to people watch at how vain guys can be. I expect it from women, but with the guys it's funnier. Recently there was a guy who left who and, I'm paraphrasing, said something to the affect of, "I guess she's going for personality, because I'm easily one of the top 3 best looking guys in there. I've got a great body. I just don't get it". 
These people are retarded, huge attention whores, or psychopaths. That pretty much covers anyone on the show in my opinion. And each one of those categories will cry. Retards, because they're retarded. Attention whores, because crying is the ultimate look-at-me. And psychopaths use it to get what they want.

What is the draw of these shows? I've never seen either the Bachelor or this one. I don't get it.

Well they're for women who idealize courtship. It's Disney for the 21st century.
I don't blame the people that participate on the show. They're just actors giving the demographic exactly what they want.
