Battlestar Galactica Season 3 finale question: SPOILERS

Can someone tell me what the reasoning for using All Along the Watchtower as the song that the four Cylons kept hearing in their heads?

I've only watched the first episode of season 4, so not really looking for spoilers past that.

But there's not some kind of symbolism or something though?

I'm still confused as to how, if at all, the Galacticans (whatever you call them) fit into Earth. Like is this all taking place a long time ago in a galaxy right here, or are they planning to meet up with us now after leaving a long time ago? Is Bob Dylan an alien?

Keep watching bro.

Just enjoy the occasional reference to the song.

re: Battlestar Galactica Season 3 finale question: SPOILERS
Think about one of the recurring themes of this show - the cycle of history. Many characters believe they are just fulfilling predetermined roles, and the context of space and technology do not matter.

Now, listen to the song. It's the same - joker, thief, plowman, servant, etc. There's no clear context for the poem, only roles the subjects play.

I won't say any more... just a bit of non-spoiler analysis to get you started.

Except for the context:do not subject-verb disagreement.

Editing now would be undignified.
