Personally I've loved the BvS trailers.

I think Luthor is going to surprise some people....as they are playing up the mad scientist version instead of the corporate a-hole version.
This is my thinking as well. In the spirit of the movie "Unbreakable", we have a hero and a villain on both sides of the spectrum. One is an all powerful God type hero vs a small, lanky, and weak genius who has to use his brilliance to defeat Superman. He's not a salesman/smooth talker type. He might as well be the smartest man on the planet. There have been many comic incarnation with this same concept.

With that being said, I still have some concerns about some of JE's annoying mannerism and over acting. I think the goal was to show how they're personalities and methods are completely different. We'll see how it plays out.

Some excerpts from the Empire interviews...

quote:

We knew Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne would be a little older in Batman v Superman than other film versions of the Batman we’ve seen, but who knew that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman would have a few thousand years on him? It’s not just the 5,000-year-old age of the Amazonian heroine that made news today but also the fact that, when we meet her, she’s retired as a superhero due to some unknown circumstances. Intriguing!

In Empire’s continuing coverage of the upcoming DC superhero film, they discovered some new insight into the version of Wonder Woman we’ll see in Batman v Superman, along with some new images that bring those title heroes into dynamic action. CBM also managed to grab some quotes from Empire’s write-up with behind-the-scenes information from Snyder, Gadot herself, super-produdcer Charles Roven and executive producer Deborah Snyder.

Here’s what Snyder had to say about the plan to bring Wonder Woman into the mix:

“It was incredibly organic how Wonder Woman came into the story. The whole concept came of, ‘Let’s not save anything. Let’s try it all.’ Then Wonder Woman’s entrance made us realise we were much closer to the Justice League than we thought. We realised we were one movie away.”

Gadot, of course, has her own interpretation of the character and her reasons for retiring, which she commented on:

“Because she’s seen it all, she has seen what humans can do, so it was very hard for her to come back and fight.
Gadot also shared her take on the differences between Diana Prince and Wonder Woman in the modern world:

They have the same attitude. Although when she is Diana she tries to blend in, she is not too outgoing. I don’t want people to think she is perfect. She can be naughty.”

Executive producer Deborah Snyder also chimed in on the iconic feminine power embodied by Wonder Woman and how we’ll see that in action during Gadot’s solo movie:

“Her sexuality is part of her power, but she is also a feminist icon. Gender has been a hot topic, so it is very timely to bring her back. The way we have approached it, especially in the standalone movie, that is definitely there. Looking back and doing an origin story – and it is a period piece – see the role of women through history. There is a great source of humour in that now. It is so unbelievable you can’t even fathom it. You are still making a statement, but having some fun with it.”
Meanwhile, Roven commented on how he sees this version of Batman:

“[Batman] is not giving people a chance. He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner.

He’s older, he’s seen the worst of what man can do. He’s been darkened by it, he’s tougher, he’s angrier, I guess. He’s still lost those that are near and dear to him, and not necessarily from old age or disease.”

"We realized that more women will want to buy movie tickets if we include a female main character. Especially if she saves the day."

And here's what the movie should be. No Lex Luthor. No Doomsday. No Aquaman. No Wonder Woman.

Batman vs. Superman.

Batman, an older guy who trusts no one with power versus a flying Jesus Christ alien.

That is a story that could have a tremendous amount of depth as the old superhero becomes the dark as the world starts to worship and fear what appears to be the light. Can Batman expose Superman as a villain? Can Superman prove that he is for the good of the world?

that's the thing though, Luthor and Batman see the world (and Superman) so very closely, it makes sense to show them together in film and how they take different course (or course correct) when dealing with Superman.

I'd be surprised if Lex and Bruce aren't working together for a little bit in this movie

The grenade scene is my all-time favorite (i've hammered before that the movie is incredibly underrated).

As far as BvS goes, the marketing as been so bad that i've dropped it on my must see list. I will still watch it but maybe not on openning weekend

Batman's return to the big screen comes just four years after Christopher Nolan ended the Caped Crusader's story in The Dark Knight Rises, and it sounds like the filmmaker was a little take aback to learn that Zack Snyder wanted to pit him against Superman in a movie which, according to Empire Online, will essentially portray the character as a villain.

"You tell me if you don’t want me to do it," Snyder reportedly told Nolan before the director replied: "Well, we don’t own these characters. When you’re done making Batman movies, someone else will [make them]." Could this be why Nolan - who executive produced Man of Steel - decided to remove himself from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Whatever the answer, Snyder got his blessing to move forward with his vision.

"I think he found it a little bit hard," Snyder admits. "I would feel the same way. In a lot of ways Batman v Superman is a very personal concept. It is just two people trying to understand each other’s point of view." Do you think Batman should have been left on the shelf a little longer?

When moviegoers met the DC Extended Universe’s Clark Kent in Man of Steel, he was an inexperienced Superman. Oh sure, he’d been using his abilities for years, but Zod’s invasion of Earth was the first time he ever used them to keep his adopted people safe. Three years later, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice follows up on Clark’s role as Earth’s defender, and while his life is by no means perfect, he has changed for the better.

Henry Cavill explained to Empire (via WhatCulture) that Superman will be much more comfortable in his superhero role during the March blockbuster. He said:

"He’s more used to this gig, doing his best to save as many lives as he can. He is no longer frantic. He’s no longer a wet behind the ears kind of superhero."

Considering that Clark’s first bout as Superman had him fighting experienced militants from his home planet, everything he’s dealt with afterwards has been smooth sailing. As one of the most powerful beings on Earth, with numerous special abilities, stopping a group of bank robbers or saving someone from being hit by a car is easy. Despite that period in Man of Steel where he remained hidden, Clark will always have that firm moral code his Earth parents instilled in him, and now he knows it’s his responsibility to use his powers to help humanity. Now he’s had a few years to get a handle on doing this.

New international spot shows a bit more of Batman's nightmare. Earth looking very much like Apokolips.
