listening to a song of ice and fire in audio, and the first three books were read by a guy who did a damn good job. now the fourth book is being read by someone completely different

frick that. just screwed up all the characters i had in my head. changing how their voice sounds, changes how i perceive their character. hate when audio books do this

yea it was john lee

after some research, apparently there's been quite a bit of debate about this. even going as far as to make a petition to get the guy who read the first three, Roy Dotrice, to read the fourth one as well LINK.

And now it looks like Roy did make a reading of it LINK

it's cool. as long as you have interaction with the books, it's fine with me. i can see how the audio would be advantageous

I could never multitask and listen to this book, I would miss so many details that add so much to the book.

This.

I can't listen to audio books in the background.
I only do it if I've read the book before.

I need to focus on the book to follow it, and find myself rewinding to catch something significant if I try to multitask.

I drive a lot doing the work I do. Driving and walking, alone. Excellent time to listen if you ask me. Better than the radio or music I'd be listening to otherwise

Lucky you

I got mine through a torrent so I'm not complaining to much. Gonna research later to see if I can't find the 4th book read by dotrice

When you get through listening and end up in the crackpot thread you'll have your mind blown every other post simply because there is no way you've caught half of the important events.

But whatever floats your boat.

doubt it. but i may be surprised. people take in information differently. for me, i find i can follow along better listening than reading
