Arrow Casting News: Neal Mcdonough as Damien Darhk

Talk about nailing it, this might be their best casting in 4 seasons. Fits the bill almost perfectly, and is a underrated actor to boot.

You're not kidding. I was starting to worry about this up coming season with how much work the writers are doing with 3 tv shows. This casting just upped my excitement level by 10. I cant wait to watch him battle the hood guy.

Is Season 3 over? How was it? It lost me with the Ra's al Ghul story line. I still have it set to record so I may go back and get through them bc I miss the show.

I like this. Ra's was just never the villain I'd hoped he'd be. Hopefully Darhk will be causing mayhem like Slade.

Worst season so far. Suffered from a bad love story line and The Flash being badass. Pretty disappointing because Ra's should have been a great villain.
As for the OP, I'm not a comic guy, so I'll take y'alls word for this being a good casting. But I do like the guy as an actor.

As far as the comics go, he really doesn't match up from an appearance aspect since Damien is pretty darn young looking in the comics.
But from an acting standpoint, they couldn't have done better I think.

Neal has a baby face though, even as he has gotten older he has retained that. Doesn't he fit the bill on height, build, hair, and eye color?

Damian normally has brown hair and dark eyes (either brown or black), not blond and blue (although they can easily dye his hair and give him colored contacts I guess). Here is a picture of him:

kinda seems silly to cast NM if you are going to put brown contacts on some of the bluest eyes in Hollywood.

Yeah, I doubt they do. He doesn't have to bare a striking physical resemblance to the comic book character. I think he'll knock it out of the ballpark regardless.

Season 3 suffered from a badly written love story (how the hell do you screw up Emily Bett Rickards playing Felicity?) and a villain that never seemed to have a really personal motive to go after the Arrow. There were some very strong episodes... but more episodes the failed to meet the stink test.
To make matters worse Flash had an amazing first season and Agents of Shield was vaguely decent. Arrow looked old in only its third season.
They have a solid actor cast as the bad guy for this season. Now would be a good time to cut the ties to the flashbacks (Oh, have them there, but not nearly as much) and establish some good honest hate between the antagonist and protagonist.

I thought Darhk was a blonde for some reason.
Outside of that, there aren't many guys who can play a TV series villain better than Mcdonough. He makes you love to hate him almost instantly. He should dominate the screen much like Manu did in the second half of Season 2.
Which the show desperately needs right now.
