Are there any animated movies you enjoy more than Pixar films?

Obviously Pixar is the gold standard, but are there other films out there you enjoy more than some of Pixars flicks?

Here's Pixars list just as a reminder:

Toy Story 1,2,3
Cars 1,2
A Bugs Life
The Incdibles
Finding Nemo
Up
WALL-E
Monsters Inc
Ratatouille

Ratatouille, A Bugs Life and Cars 2 aren't that great IMO. The other 9 are incredible.

But I was watching Despicable Me with my niece and nephew and thought about how this could fit in very easy with plenty of Pixar movies.

Just off the top of my head you have...

Despicable Me
Madagascar 1,2
Shrek 1,2,3 ? Maybe more
Ice Age 1,2,3,4,5 ??
Kung Fu Panda 1,2
Tangled
Rango
Over the Hedge
Megamind
And a bunch more

For me, Despicable Me, Megamind, Tangled, Shrek 1,2,3 (I like these more than most), Rango and Madagascar and maybe some I am forgetting would all be better than Ratatouille, Cars 2 and A Bugs Life.

Y'all put any other movies in the same league as Pixar?

Edit: In my head I was thinking movies that have come out since Pixar started making movies (1995). And Pixar animation style/cgi. Didn't want to compare them to Disney classic due to the number of awesome movies, that would be difficult to compare. Should have stated that.

I think Rango is very underrated. Gave me a whole new appreciation for Johnny Depp. Animation was amazing. Is there anything more challenging than making a desert lizard look real?

had a real Sergio Leone, Clint Eastwood Spagetti Western feel to it.

Dispicable Me is a one of the only ones that stands up toe to toe with Pixar IMO.

It had a Pixar feel to it. Really funny at times while still drawing you in on an emotional level. The minions were pretty cool too.

This one is up there with the best Pixar films to me.

As for enjoying more, Miyazaki's films in Japan are as good or better than Pixar's overall.

Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are better than any Pixar film to me, and Howl's Moving Castle and Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind are as good as anything Pixar has produced.

I really like Ratatoullie. I thought Rango was really good, although it was pretty subversive for a "kids movie."

Pixar pretty much has a stranglehold on the genre, but as some mentioned earlier, HTTYD was really good.

I couldn't make it past the first 20 minutes of Tangled. I got really bored.

I thought Meet the Robinsons and Bolt were pretty enjoyable as well.

This. Easily the standard for animated films. Its a shame they've fallen off so much.

In my head I was thinking all Pixar style films. Cgi. Last ten years or so. Guess I should have said that.

But yeah, many old Disney movies clearly are just as good/better.

I did not like Despicable Me, and for what may seem like a shallow reason: I found Steve Carrell's character (mainly his voice) annoying.

Speaking of Disney, would Pete's Dragon be considered animated, since the Dragon was a cartoon?

Meet the Robinsons is one of the most underrated Disney Releases ever. Great message, Basically the Character is Walt Disney as a Kid, those are Walt's words coming out of Tom Sellack's mouth btw.

Terrific soundtrack as well.

Wow haven't thought about Pete's Dragon in a while. Umm I guess so. Gonna have to get my hands on a Pete's Dragon DVD. If they even make a Pete's Dragon DVD.

I don't watch any animated movies, I just can't get into them. The last one I watched that I liked was The Incredibles. I've never seen any others.

Eta: I saw the original Toy Story and Shrek too.
