The point of the Oscars should be to award the best performance not award the best actor. They used to give these lifetime achievement award Oscars for undeserving performances all the time and it fricking sucked.

I wouldn't go that far. Its certainly not near the level of Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison, but its probably on the level of Big Daddy. Its no where near as bad as the shite he's put out in the last 10 years.
On another note, I've heard that Sandler is a really great guy. Joe Rogan talked about it in a recent podcast that he is one of the normal guys in Hollywood.

I sat down and watched Sandy Wexler last night and while it was rough going at times, the story wasn't awful and had some of the funniest damn credit scenes I have ever seen/heard. Mike Judge was doing prank calls as Beavis and Butthead to Sandler's Sandy Wexler character.
