But no, he is getting serious buzz for his supporting role in the Meyerowitz Stories, which has a great cast, and is written and directed by Noah Baumbach.
He was nominated for a few things for PunchDrunk Love, so its not unprecedented.

He won't get an Oscar nomination for the same reason Jim Carrey didn't get a nomination for the Truman Show.

Agree. And if anything brought that movie down, it was the iffy production values, not Sandler (not that he hasn't stunk it up in a lot of stuff in the last few years).

That was a crime. If Robin Williams were the lead in that movie (he's the only other actor I can see portraying Truman), he would have won for sure.

If true, good for him.
I'm not the biggest fan of his style of comedy, but after watching Punch Drunk Love, I was convinced that he's plenty talented enough to be a legitimate actor.

This is a Noah Baumbach movie, so it's the antithesis of a typical Adam Sandler movie. Basically it will be an ensemble cast of neurotic New Yorkers mumbling and having a mildly interesting revelation about life at the end of a slow-progressing film.

Sandler is capable.

The Cannes audience are a bunch of pretentious twats. Everything either gets a 10-minute standing ovation or gets booed.
