Friend went to a screening of it, said it was very bland and nothing special.

What tragedy will Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg exploit next after Lone Survivor, Deep Water Horizon, and Patriots Day?

There have only been three screenings

1) The Toronto Film Festival

2) A private screening for the survivors

3) The premiere in NOLA last Monday night with the producers and actors

I wasn't in Toronto. But it got a standing ovation, which is very rare at a film festival.

I attended #2 and #3. Grown men wept at both. People were hugging and embracing each other in the aisles. Not a dry eye in the house. The film has a critics rating of over 80%. It was one of the most intense cinema experiences of all my years in the business.

You don't know what you're talking about. Or you are just full of shite. Or, more likely, both.

Harambe biopic. Wahlberg is already getting shite for reportedly doing the movie in 'gorilla face.' I think it's courageous.

You're talking about a movie about the oil spill right?

No. It's not about the oil spill. The movie ends 12 hours after the explosion. The spill isn't mentioned but for a couple of seconds as the credits roll after it's over.

The movie is about what went wrong on the rig, and the eleven men who were killed that night.

I have a problem with that it doesnt appear to be what really happened. Again hollywood had to change the story to fit the cgi and explosions timed with their dialogue

That is too vague a statement to even respond to.

Are liberties taken in Hollywood? Yes.

Caleb didn't pull one of the drill hands away from the wellhead after the first kick. He was doing paper work under the crane. He hauled arse for a lifeboat. They added that sequence to get Dylan Obrien into a more prominent role.

Mike didn't jump with Andrea from the heli deck. He was alone. But they consolidated their jumping together to make a more dramatic scene. That's Hollywood.

Dramatic license was taken. It's not a documentary. It's an action movie based on real events. A documentary would take hours. They consolidated many sequences and incidents in order to make it all fit.

If you've got a problem with that, then you just don't like movies.

This isn't correct. There have been multiple screenings in my area since September 14th so it's very possible his friend saw it.

I know most of the AD team that worked on it. Most of what they told me lines up with what No Colors is saying about the movie. I even heard after Berg talked with the survivors and the families several script changes were made to focus more on that aspect of the film. It's about the people, not the spill.

There's no way I can see this film...just the mention of it makes me immediately think of the South Parks...we're sorry parody.

That was the company line in pre-production. It's not about the oil spill. It's about people saving people. I enjoyed it a lot. I was definitely reminded of how often we were covered in mud during filming. A lot more than the movie itself lets on.

just caught a screening, man that was an entertaining movie.

majority on here will hate the accents, especially Malkovich's, so if you're an accent snob, don't watch it. otherwise, go if you want an entertaining 'disaster' movie.

I'll say they pretty much made BP out to be the fricking devil

highly recommended.
