Anyone just watch the Top Chef Finale?

SPOILERS...
Was that not the most ill-conceived finale of any show you've ever watched? If you were even remotely cognizant of the time you would have known who won. It was like a self-inflicted spoiler.
And this last chance kitchen stuff is such bullshite. I like Kristen and all and I thought she was a great Chef, but I just felt like this entire finale and the entire last chance kitchen thing is just terrible.

yes - it was pretty clear 30 mins in who the winner was

Yeah I noticed the time too and figured out who won. The live battle was a cool idea but the execution was lacking.

I agree that the live battle was cool, but the concept fell short. But I thought Kristian and Brooke were the two strongest chefs, and it was bullshite how Kristian got voted off in the first place.

Had a chance to meet some of those folks last summer when they were filming here.

I thought Kristen was better way before. Last chance should reunite its winner with the top 3 and that should be your finale.
I can't fault Kristen.
Brooke knew Kristen was that good and Kristen only went home during restaurant wars because Josie is fricking awful.
I always thought it would have been between Kristen, Brooke, and Stefan.
No problem with the hot Asian winning.
And I dig the new finale format

This.
Kristen deserved to win. I liked the finale format, but yeah, they spoilered their own show with the time thing.

Yea it was easy figuring out who won. I liked the format but I thought it was BS that Kristen was even able to come back.
Brooke was never sent home and had to continue on with the much harder challenges while Kristen had to just cook a better dish than people.
I really thought they were the best two and it was a good finale but it was lacking the spirit of the other seasons. It made it more about a 1 on 1 dish than coming up with the absolute best 5 courses you can think of. They also confined them to use scallops in Round 2 and Redfish in Round 4. I don't like that for the finales. Let them cook what they want and judge them on all 5 dishes.

Kristen's exit was self inflicted and she was by far the better chef in the finale. Brooke's dished always seem a little out there and Kristen's food looks like something I would want to eat.
I think it should have been Kristen and Sheldon in the finale.
I wish Stefan would have lasted a little longer--he made me laugh.

And I dig the new finale format
by the time they judged the fourth course, there was only 7 minutes left in the show.
you had to know that kristen was going to win based on that.

I agree that Kristen's exit was self inflicted but still an exit. She got a second chance and Brooke didn't. Brooke won more challenges than anyone and was cooking at a high level but started to stumble in both parts of the Finale. I wanted to see her at least get some sort of advantage for having never been kicked off.
I like the Top Chef finales where they give them expert Sous chefs. It allows it to really be Chef vs. Chef and not having to rely on other contestants to make sure they cook your food right. CJ burning the pig ears in Round 1 really hurt Brooke. They also had to cook for 160 people. That's a little ridiculous for a finale. Too much work into getting that many dishes out.
I kind of believe that this season was a little rigged to even allow Kristen back into the finale for drama. They were milking the fact that she fought her way back in.

Top Chef's judges and producers get kind of bitchy and vote chefs off that they know are the better competitors.
They did it with Jenn on All-Stars when she flipped out on the panel.
They voted Kristen off over Josie earlier in the season when all of them knew she was light years ahead of Josie.
I don't know if they do it for controversy purposes, or use it as a reminder for the competitors and no matter how good you are one screw-up can cost you, IDK.
Even so, a bad performance from Kristen should advance over bad showing from Josie, 100% of the time.

I didn't like the new format, and thought brooke was the best chef all season.
I think Tom had a thing for Kristen, he voted for her every time, and even on the LCK when it appeared he liked the other dish better, he chose her every time. (I realize they edit the show to a large degree to throw you off who is the winner and loser)

Me either. And speaking of other things I didn't like this year:

Can we really call favoritism on Kristen?
She was pretty dominant all season until her elimination episode.
It wasn't a fluke, she easily won the finale last night too.
ETA: I didn't watch LCK

Brooke won just as much as Kristen did. I'm not debating if one is better than the other. I think they are both amazing chefs.
It's hard to say that once Kristen beat CJ and beat Josie as 'redemption' the show picked up the storyline and let her through to the finale.
I hate LCK and feel like it rewards people that lose on a non-cooking mistake who are really good chefs. It was beneficial to Kristen to lose then go against the other losers and only having to cook 1 dish to win. All the while, the others still in it have to do much harder elimination challenges.

Did she win any challenges before the Kristen elimination?

Agreed. But once again robust Asian flavors are appealing to the judges' and producers' palates.

I don't really like it either, I bet Brooke hates it

Brooke won 2 challenges before Kristen was eliminated. Kristen won 4 challenges and Brooke won 5. Brooke and Kristen dominated episodes 6-10. They basically split the wins in those. Brooke also won 2 Quickfires during those episodes. Kristen won 1. Wikipedia is awesome.
