Anyone here ever read the "Mistborn" triology?

I'm currently about 150 pages into the 2nd book, so no spoilers por favor(please). Really awesome books though. Besides GOT, they are the only books I've read since high school. Anywasy, just wondering any of the posters here were fans.

I finished it earlier this year, I really enjoyed it. You might be interested in The Alloy of Law when you're done with the trilogy, it takes place roughly 300 or so years after events of The Hero of Ages, includes a few more metals/abilities too. Much shorter read than any of the trilogy books.

It's a really fun read. Sanderson is very good at writing action scenes. I'm terrible at imagining book scenes, but he made it very easy to visualize.
I've heard great things about The Way of Kings, but I don't know how I feel about starting a 10 book epic when only the first two books have been written.
Supposedly all of his books are in the same universe (literally, just on different planets).

sounds cool, i'll definitely check it out, thanks
I just think that idea of the burnign metals is really cool. Vin is awesome too, reminds me of Arya.

I've considered starting The Way of Kings as well, but I'm holding off until Winds of Winter comes out before I tackle another high fantasy series...I figure at the rate George R. R. Martin is going with SOIAF there will be at least a 5 year break before the final book of that series...

I like Mistborn but you can tell it is one of the first series that he had written.
Way of Kings is pretty damn great though.

Believe me, The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance are worth it. The Mistborn starts out good, but I was disappointed in the ending.
A few months back Sanderson came to Houston for a book signing and Q and A. I went and got him to sign my copies of both WoK and WoR. He's a really cool guy, it was intertesting to hear how he came to envisioning the world and the epic story he's writing.
As far as a 10 book epic and how long it will take to write them all, in the Q and A he said his publisher was very strict on release dates so he won't pull a GRR Martin and sputter out after a few hits.
I highly recommend reading them, I'm about 1/4 of the way through WoR and it's fantastic.

I discovered Sanderson when he was finishing Wheel of Time. The great thing about Sanderson is that he is constantly pumping out material. Whether they are short stories or a part of one of his different worlds, he always has something new.
He also puts progress bars on his website so you can get an idea on when his next project will be release.

Solid trilogy.
You should check out Steelheart. Also by Sanderson

It's great imo. Some people complain about characters being one dimensional or simple plot but frick em I love the magic system and visuals with a decent story to boot. Would make a great movie

I just finished it two weeks ago. I loved it, all the way through.
That's a little unfair. Elend, Spook, Sazed are fairly fleshed out.
I will say, I think we had too many characters in 3 short-ish books. I would have like to see more of people like Cett, but oh well.

Really liked Mistborn, was my first foray into Fantasy after ASOIAF.

Mistborn was really fun, and Sanderson does magic systems better than anyone else I've read. However, as other's have said, you can tell that it's his first big trilogy. The Alloy of Law, while just a novella, is fantastic.
Read the Stormlight Archives (Way of Kings and Words of Radiance). A lot of the things I felt like he got wrong in Mistborn, he got right in that.
Also, Elantris and Warbreaker are two other books of his that exist within the same Universe. There's even a character who appears in all four works, though it's only easy to pick them out in two. Also, some stuff in Warbreaker is directly referenced in Words of Radiance if you know what to look for. But don't worry, it doesn't detract from the story if you haven't read his other works.

Just picked this up yesterday actually. Really excited about it after all the comments !
It's gonna hafta be pretty damn good, though, cause I've been nailing my fantasy selections lately.
In the last month or so I've read:
1. Blood Song - First book in the Raven's Shadow trilogy. Incredible debut novel to say the least. Cannot wait for the follow-up in July, already pre-ordered!
2. The Name of the Wind and A Wise Man's Fear - The first two books of The Kingkiller Chronicle trilogy. It's hard to put into words how perfectly written I think these books are. It can be slow at times, but Rothfuss' prose is brilliant to the point where it is almost poetry.
3. The First Law Trilogy - I've got about 200 pages left in the final book of this series. It hasn't knocked me off my feet like the previous two trilogies, but it's pretty damn good. Really solid scope and some well-developed characters. I love Ardee, she seems like my kinda chick .
I've had the 10 good series recommended to me as well nearly every time I sign-on to my Kindle. I'm like others in that just sounds borderline absurd although I will say it's about as highly rated series as I've ever seen on Amazon. I doubt I'll ever pick it up until he's at book 7-8, but if it continues to stay that highly rated I'll hafta check it out.
I got a 2 week vacation coming up, though, so I plan on slaughtering Mistborn if it's as good as people say! I will report back with thoughts !

I flew through it last month. Really good books but a bit of a fall off in the 3rd one.
Like others have said check out the Stormlight Archive series next. The first two books are great.

Yeah, I found Mistborn to be decent, but not really great. The characters are pretty weak, and the plot is merely decent. But Sanderson's magic system in that series is probably the best and most original I've read (Daniel Abraham's Long Prince quintet is probably the only other series with as original of a magic system I've read).
Sanderson has gotten much better with his characters in recent books though. As you mentioned The Alloy of Law is very good, easily the best thing I've read by him (of course I'm a sucker of westerns and steampunk, so combining both in a book is pretty much just take my money). I've only read Way of Kings from Stormlight so far, but that series seems like it will be much better than Mistborn as well.
I'll probably wait till he has 5-6 books written to pick up that series however. Sanderson is very prolific and will get it done in 7-8 years I'm sure, but don't feel like jumping into another 10 books series right now with only 2 books out.
