Why don't they do one with entire bands and all genres of music instead of just who can sing a pop song karaoke the best?

the last panel of judges were the best they've ever had and they still ended the show. no idea why they would want to start over now.

The Voice came in and left Idol in the dust. Will continue to do so. Superior talent and coaching. Quicker format and no dumbass theme nights.

I don't think it's going to run in the summer.
They are saying it's going to run on Sunday nights during the broadcast TV season.
They also got Seacrest back on board. They moved the show to New York explicitly for that reason and he's agreed to do it.

Just make it about music. It would be great. I'd watch it. Get famous musicians/producers to help the bands and the winner gets a tour and a contract.

I prefer America's Got Talent and American Ninja Warrior for summer light watching.
AGT has a good mix of singing and other talents.
