American Crime, ABC tonight

What a dismal show. Well made, intricate storyline, but such a downer. I don't know if I'll watch it again.

I recorded it because they have been promoting the hell out of it, but haven't watched it yet. I figured it would be slow to develop.

I caught it. It was decent.
Seems like it has a decently webbed story of interacting lives around a murder. But it feels like it's going to be a lot of the gotcha/obvious racial symbolism from Crash.
I was watching wanting to hate it because part of my marriage vows apparently included a clause that I am required to watch all Thursday night ABC dramas, so TIFWIW.

I don't necessarily have to like a character, but somebody in the damn show is going to have to have some redeeming qualities for me to stick around. So far I haven't seen any. Timothy Hutton is a schlub, Felicity Huffman is shrill, the Hispanic dad is incredibly naive, the cops are unethical, the suspects are, well, the kind of people you'd expect them to be.

It's the type of show that you have to give some time. The cast is first rate, and the narrative is going to have some interesting twists from what I can tell.
