A Life Model Decoy (or LMD for short) is a S.H.I.E.L.D.-designed robot that takes the form of a living person thus making a recreation of that person. The owner can see through, speak through, and control everything the Life Model Decoy does. Nick Fury's Life Model Decoys are probably the most common in the Marvel Universe.

It is designed to function as an exact body double for VIPs. Their design is such that they mimic the subject's outer appearance (i.e., fingerprints, hair, all details of the skin), speech patterns, scent, iris and retina patterns, body language, thought patterns (to fool telepaths), and any other biological indicators. Aside from any invasive procedure or strong EMP, they are indistinguishable from the original

They can be operated from somewhere else or be programmed to believe they actually are the person they're portraying.

Due to the "He was an LMD" explanation, a comicbook Nick Fury death scene is a more common occurrence than Wolverine calling someone "bub".

It is pretty much a robot/android/cyborg with the mind/memories of Colston.

So Colson is somewhere else, basically a living brain, no body function controlling this LMD? Kind of like the body in "Source Code"?

I doubt it. I was just posting the LMD description.

I'm not sold on them going the LMD route with him yet myself. Or at least not as it's done in the comics.

And the agent guy's, Ward?, defining moment story, was LOL worthy. "My brother beat the crap out of me, just for eating his birthday cake!" hahahahahahahahaha

I liked that the writers opened him up a little, but the big brother thing was weak (unless he was severly understating it or lying and the full story comes out later).

Bump for last night's episode.

Another layer of mystery added with the new villain. Could be the same bad guys that implanted the guy in the pilot, but we don't know yet.

From the previews of the next episode, it looked like they were introducing a character very similar to Sunfire, but he was an X-Men property first, so I don't know if they can do that.

Also, I liked how everyone was so insistent on there not being any telepaths in this universe. Trying to drive home the separation between the MCU and X-verse.

It's not really a rip-off, it's a staple of the MU.

ETA: this show is already becoming formulaic.they should be introducing more of S.H.I.E.L.D, pitting the "team" against more agents. It's a spy agency for christ sakes. Also, The Bus is silly. Fitz/Simmons should never leave it. The tone is too light. It's should be more like Alias.

This show will probably evolve at some point, likely when Joss Whedon is done with A2 and rumored to take over show-running duties (which would mean Season 3?). I expect this show to look very different by the end of the series.

They are still showing episodes that were in the can before the pilot. I think episode 7 will be the first one that was produced after the pilot aired. That's usually when you start to see shifts because that's when they start factoring feedback after airings.

that Scorch dude straight melted that woman in tonight's episode.

It was a little shocking to see such a violent death with how light the tone has been for most of the series.

Yeah, that was crazy. I was kind of hoping she would be around a little longer. They built so much intrigue around her in the pilot that I was a little disappointed they killed her off the next time we saw her.

And the tone was definitely darker than previously. Based on next weeks preview, I don't see that changing. Next week looks like it could be really interesting.

I hope they break the villain of the week mold soon though. I want more of the on-going mythology. I was also a little disappointed they wrapped up the Skye-Traitor storyline so quickly and neatly, but I'm kind of okay with that because it could easily become stale and then tedious.

And this thread needs a more eye-catching title. It's tough to find quickly, though I should probably just bookmark it.

Next weeks looks like it starts to get legit.

And it was nice to see Skye in bra and panties
