I completely agree with you on this one. One of the most overrated films in recent years, IMHO.

It kind of does when trashing a movie before it even comes out. "DC is doing it so it must be garbage! Why can't everything be like the MCU!"

I like the Marvel movies. Even love a few of them. But it makes me laugh how every jot and tittle of Snyder's movies get shite on while there are plot holes in Marvel and Nolan movies big enough to drive buses through.

Like the bullet in TDK that has ridges on it so even if it had been removed directly from the chamber you still couldn't lift prints from it? Much less fired into a harder substance where it would be completely deformed? That's not a plot hole?

Out of curiosity...do you argue all issues like that? I'm discussing BvS...not any other movie. I may or may not have issues with the plot of another movie, but answering my question with an accusation about the perceived issue with another topic is pointless.

It's the movie version of saying you dislike Trump, and then someone feels the need to tell you how bad Hillary is...as if my disliking Trump assumes I like that woman.

Essentially...it's lazy argumentation.

Hilarious that with all of the flaws in BvS, people are focusing on that bullet.

Literally the first time I've ever brought up the bullet...I think I've been fairly open about my dislike for that movie. In fact, I'm almost certain in my long arse essay I wrote as my review of it, I never even GOT to the bullet. Like you said, there are PLENTY of other things to dislike before you ever get to the bullet.

But now that it's been brought up by others, it dawned on me that it also is a ridiculous piece.

DC movies are greatly anticipated both in public and on this board. That is evident by how much money the movie makes.

The movies are not the worst ever, but in context of how good they should have been versus how good they actually were is probably greater than any other comic book movie.

I think most comic book fans want the DC movies to be great, the problem is that they just aren't.

More from Jett at BOF...

quote:

Yesterday, I was the first to report that Ben Affleck’s solo Batman film had been pushed back.

Today, longtime BOF’er and BOF contributor Mark Hughes is reporting (via his great FORBES.COM blog) that Ben Affleck’s solo Batman film has indeed been pushed back. “The assumption now is that it won't begin until Summer at the earliest,” reports Mr. Hughes. “Planning and preparations will continue…and will pick up once it's obvious Affleck is almost ready to get started.”

(FULL DISCLOSURE: As I said, Mark is a longtime BOF'er and contributor to the site. He is also a good personal friend.)

THE BATMAN (unless it isn’t going to be called that) was supposed to start production in April at the Warner Bros. in Burbank (yeah, BOF was the first to report that bit of news), but “something” caused this thing to be delayed a bit.

That “something” is not yet been revealed (and likely never will), but the most likely reason is that Ben Affleck truly means that he’s not going to make a Batman film unless it’s damn good.

Frankly, I believe (hope) that Mr. Affleck stuck to his guns and refused to make THE BATMAN (unless it isn’t called that) ‘til he was damn good and ready – no matter how bad the studio wants it out in 2018.

So let’s now turn to what I said about JUSTICE LEAGUE which caused a fanboy butt-hurt of epic proportions.

If you think that JUSTICE LEAGUE hasn’t been a bit of a troubled project and has had some issues, then you can’t see the forest because of all the damn trees.

Yes, I said in this report that I’ve heard that JL was a “mess.” You know why? BECAUSE I HEARD IT WAS A MESS!

I know that fans of stuff (me included) don’t like to hear things they don’t want to hear – you know what I’m sayin’? But it’s irrefutable that JUSTICE LEAGUE didn’t get off to the best start folks.

From the Forbes article that he cited to back up his doom and gloom article:

quote:

The Batman, which was expected (but not formally scheduled) to begin production in the Spring is not ready to move forward yet. Ben Affleck, who cowrote the screenplay with Geoff Johns and also stars as the Caped Crusader, is still on board to direct the project. A later-than-planned start-date for production became necessary very recently when it became apparent that several factors were going to make it unlikely the picture could get underway by early April.

quote:

So it's no surprise -- nor a bad thing, if you set aside pure personal desire to hurry up and see a movie you want to see -- that Affleck wants and received a little more breathing room, which frankly he's been asking for all along. He doesn't want to rush the script, and right now the multiple things on his plate make it harder and undesirable to rush what he needs to do in order to finish the script and make it as good as he wants it to be.

quote:

Rumors about Justice League have also been swirling on and off for weeks and months, but here are the facts: nobody has really seen a full cut of the film yet, there haven't been negative reactions or worries about the quality, there is no feeling that it's in trouble or disappointing, and there's no truth to rumors suggesting Justice League has a troubled production. The early stages of production saw Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck step up their involvement to do rewrites on the screenplay, and the addition of a desire to ensure the film achieved a more fun, uplifting tone

This is basically a hack piece.

So he's saying I'm so glad (if true) that Affleck is delaying production for a couple of months in order to get The Batman damn good. Oh and by the way, one of the reasons may be because the JL movie is a mess.

So I wonder, when Cap. America Winter Soldier's production was delayed by a few months, did this expert speculate it was because he heard Avengers Age of Ultron was a mess???

Now, we are hearing that the film is being completely rewritten from scratch.

quote:

That means The Batman won’t even begin production until 2018 at the earliest, which means that the rumored 2018 release date is impossible.

quote:

Kroll also warned that Reeves won’t even meet with any actors until the summer, so outside of Ben Affleck himself, no casting rumors that pop up between now and then will carry much weight.

quote:

We can now report that there is more going behind-the-scenes as well. According to sources close to the production, the screenplay for The Batman is being rewritten from the ground up, so it’s entirely possible that everything we’ve heard about the film’s story will no longer be in play.

you can probably forget about Deathstroke being in this one

Another possible reason for the delay LINK
quote:

Ben Affleck revealed, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, that he recently completed a stint in rehab for alcohol addiction.

What are the chances he was blackout drunk when he wrote his draft of the script? Maybe he's a method actor and just wanted to play Bruce Wayne as an alcoholic.

Yeah, and that would be disappointing for me. I was really looking forward to that hand to hand combat with Batman.

Yes. Good work Sherlock.

Geoff Johns slapped Affleck's lifeless hands against the keyboard until something resembling a script printed out.

It's the same way he and Damon wrote Good Will Hunting.

I want to see Batman stumbling around drunk when he fights Deathstroke. It would be hilarious.
