I believe most actors are short, as state earlier, so that they can appear in the same frame with actresses. It would look funny if a 6'4 man were to kiss a 5'5 woman. I don't believe you could put that on screen. I know this because my wife is 5'5 and I am 6'4 and I rarely even try to kiss her while standing.

I figured that Ben Stiller would be shorter than a number of the other people on the list, such as Robert Downey Jr., Javier Bardem, and Jack Black.

Stiller doing movies with tall frickers like Vince Vaughn made me think he was a lot shorter than he really is.

Yep..and when you see them in frames with actual tall people it almost looks cartoonish. Like, Harrison and Liam in K-19, or Crowe/Pierce and Cromwell in LA Confidential, etc.
