It took me about 5-6 episodes to really get into it. It's a very good show but doesn't quite live up to the hype.

Tip...if you have a hard time following hard English dialog, used closed captioning.

It's good, but I think it's a bit overrated. It hasn't blown me away save for a few episodes here or there.

I just started rewatching it, this time my wife is watching also. She has really been enjoying the show. She has the hots for Daenerys Targaryen. We are in season 4. I am enjoying watching her reactions to things that happen. I have caught on to stuff I never noticed the first time around. It's great.

Yes. I was hooked from the beginning scene. I'm rewatching now and had spaced it out so I would end season 6 right as season 7 starts. I will finish early because even though I've seen episodes multiple times I still want to binge watch. No matter how many times you read the books and/or watch the show there will always be something you didn't catch the first time.

I tried for years to get my husband to watch. He even went to the movies with me to see those episodes and refused to watch the show (actually he watched about 5 minutes of the first episode and quit). I asked him last year to just watch season 1 and if he didn't get hooked I would never mention it again. He watched all 5 seasons in a couple of weeks.

I had been hounding my wife to read the books since 1997.

Her first question after watching the premier of the first episode of the show was " Which book should I read first?"

You think it's only had a few really good episodes?

Watch the first 10 minutes of the first episode and report back. Seriously. It only take 10 minutes and you will be hooked. Doesn't let down after that.

I disagree. The story itself took me about a full season to digest. There are so many moving parts, but thankfully binge watching kind of helps you to follow it.

Truly jaw dropping episodes that kept me enthralled from beginning to end? Yes, probably just handful in 6 seasons. Many, many jaw dropping moments though for sure.

Full disclosure, I HATE the Jon Snow story arc. I lose interest anytime his story arc comes on the screen. So any episode that is Jon Snow heavy is a snoozer to me.

I think it's an above average show. I just think it's a touch overhyped. I'd definitely recommend watching to anyone that hasn't.

It's considered one of the best shows out there and by saying it's a "touch" overhyped means you believe it's a really good show but not great. But then you say it's "above average". So you're kind of contradicting yourself there.

Or maybe I just don't think every great or above average show is considered one of the best shows out there. My opinion is it a good/great show, but I don't think it's as good as many here, and elsewhere, claim it to be. If you do, great. I don't really think it's worth arguing.

When I first started watching it last year, I had to go to the GOT wiki page that does a recap after every show to get down the names and places.

This was my biggest issue, trying to keep up with the who who and the what what

Oh and Khaleesi season 1
