So I finally finished A Dance with Dragons tonight (WTF, somebody better shank Bowen Marsh's arse before this is all said and done) and went ahead and read Theon's excerpt from The Winds of Winter (is there any doubt Asha is going to try to save him when they go to excute him at the weirwood?). My understanding is that there are two more excerpts out there that have been read by Martin (one with Arianne Martell and one with Victarion Greyjoy POVs). Is there anywhere these excerpts are written or are they only available via video of Martin reading them?

TIA

I've read Victarion's before but I don't remember where.

Btw did you happen to catch Jon's dream in the beginning of the chapter that Tormund comes through the wall?

In the dream he was wearing armor made of ice and wielding a flaming sword.

There is absolutely no way he is not AA reborn

Do you think the Prince Who Was Promised is the same as Azor Ahai? Probably the most interesting theory I've read is that Jon is the Prince Who Was Promised and Dany is Azor Ahai (her dragons as Lightbringer, not a sword or that possibly Lightbringer has yet to be found).

I've also read that the Night's Watch is Lightbringer. Interesting theory.

Daenarys sees herself fighting against an army with armor made of ice in her dream/vision?. Perhaps it will be Aegon/Dany vs. Jon Snow in the 2nd Dance of the Dragons. Logically Dany will probably head south when she finally returns to Westeros.

I personally think they are the same person. Same prophecy just told by two different cultures.

Between that dream and Mel's visions in dance I am whole heartedly convinved that Jon is AA/PTWP. Espescially since something happened to Rheagar that convinced him that the PTWP would be his son.

and Jon (assuming that R+L=J is correct) is the only merging of Ice and Fire in the series

I got a boner in the chapter where all Mel saw was snow in the fire...

also, I was reading one of the summaries of the GRRM TWOW readings up on Westeros.org, and apparently Pod is still alive!

All I know is all these damn prophecies make my head hurt.

Something else I'm curious about that I haven't seen mentioned much (maybe because of the subject matter of it). Dany has her "moon's blood" in her last chapter in ADwD. I wonder if she is legitimately still barren (or ever was legitimately barren)? Given how GRRM likes to hone in on things of importance, it seems like an awful lot of attention to detail given to a girl's period.

I've ready a theory that she had a miscarriage.

I thought that when she commented that it was heavier than usual. But that wouldn't be uncommon for someone who goes without their "moon's blood" for an extended period of time FWIW.

While I'm not sure I buy that they're the same person, there's no way I can be convinced at this point that Rhaegar and Lyanna are not Jon's parents.

If he writes anything to the contrary I think it would be so outlandish it would be ridiculous. Besides, everybody is itching for that moment when they find out.

It is known.

Ok, not really. I agree with you though. Anything else at this point would not make sense.

By the way, in a bit of randomness I had no idea that the actor that plays Theon is the singer Lily Allen's brother.

All the more hilarious knowing she wrote a song about him smoking weed all day.

She is no longer barren or soon not to be. The sun rose in the west and set in the east (the prince from doren came from westeros and died in the east), dothraki sea of grass is drying up and the dragons will probably set fire to it, the mountain is dead or deadish. Don't remember exactly what the witch said but all of it is figurative not literal

And for the sake of our commentary, here's Alfie Allen's comments in his recent interview over the whole Jon Snow parents bit:

quote:

What did you ask him about in return? You know, I asked him about who Jon Snow's real parents were, and he told me. I can't say who, but I can tell you that it involves a bit of a Luke Skywalker situation. It will all come to fruition eventually. The whole thing with all the fight over proper succession is partly inspired by the War of the Roses in the late 1400s, and back then, to ensure pedigree, the monarchies were kind of inbred. It's definitely fricked up, but it definitely happened back then, so that's why there's incest with the Targaryen line. It's toned down, though.

He best not be a trollin' bastard.

I wonder how Jon will take the news in the book, he might become pretty pissed at Ned for hiding his true heritage and want to become more of a Targ or maybe it won't phase him and his love for Ned/Starks/and the north. Should be interesting.
