Grew up in the 80s in Lake Charles, and my sister had a small TV with rabbit ears that we would watch late night reruns of shows. What shows do you remember watching in the 80s late at night?

i can remember

Night Court
Married with Children
Cheers
American Gladiators
MASH(hated it because it was always on)

Scrambled Playboy Channel, scrambled Cinemax and the scrambled porn channel. Every now and then it would straighten out enough to get a quick crank in.

Late 70's, early 80's, WBRZ showed M*A*S*H and Rockford Files. (Moved to after Nightline with the '79 hostage crisis going forward).

In the mid-80's, they switched to Star Trek instead of Rockford.

Baton Rouge in the 80's and 90's had the shame of taking Letterman off and on and off the local NBC station. I had to get bootleg tapes from out of town.

Anybody remember the controversy when ch 33 dropped Letterman to show All In The Family reruns? Lasted about two weeks -- some LSU students started up a campaign to bring DL back. It succeeded and the same guys did a short video which was shown on the night DL came back. I think he mentioned them on the show that night.

A few years later Letterman was pushed back an hour so ch 33 could show... Morton Downey?!?

Fortunately that didn't last long

Who remembers when ch 2 would show the "Wossamaatta U" story arc from Bullwinkle every Super Bowl Sunday?

They eventually replaced Letterman with Arsenio Hall. Letterman wasn't on the air in Baton Rouge when he did his final shows on NBC.

A lot of stations in the 80's would push back the network late night programming (unless they had the Tonight Show with Carson) because A) The networks allowed it, and B) It gave them an extra half hour or hour of pure local spots to sell.

Yep, and Letterman was actually good back then. I'd record it on my Betamax and watch it after work. He was doing all kinds of goofy stuff and having fun.

Friday Night Videos
Monsters
Creature Feature

I was pretty young and I remember during the time, Eyes Without a Face by Billy Idol was popular and I always thought that video was creepy. That one and Land of Confusion by Genesis were just creepy to me back then.

I also remember in the early 90s, PBS would show The Red Green show late at night and The Woodrights Shop followed up with Furniture on the Mend. I always liked watching those shows too.
