In the back of everyone's mind we all wonder "Can I survive in prison?".
This show feeds the curiosity.
Not the best show I have seen, but I watch it.
I would like to see this done again in a more " urban" jail.

Guy with the glasses was way too big of a geek to hack it. Surprised he made it passed day 1.

They shot a second season right behind it - they figured that would be their only chance, because once it would be leaked, that jail would be unsuitable for another season for a long time.
And, your analysis made me laugh. Barbara actually has acting credits, so I do suspect a little more scripting to this "reality" show. Tami and Robert have been in other "reality" shows. Doesn't make me like it less, but I'm more skeptical about the actual "reality" of it, compared to "Jail" or "Locked up" (or even Cops).

Reality - Most of us in that situation would be closer to Jeff (maybe not as bad) than to Zac.

I agree it would take away some credibility as far as the participants are concerned, but I would have to think at least the other inmates are the real deal.

I agree. They probably didn't do three, because the inmates would have gotten suspicious - as it is, the camera crew was there for 4 months.
They were still probably fairly safe, assuming the attention was spread out to the real inmates as well, but the last thing you would want is a citizen getting shanked in there (volunteer or not) for being a narc.
As it is, I think they did a good job of going after Zac (and they either planted it or knew it was nothing) with the powdery substance and fricked up his stuff in that episode to throw suspicion off him. He gave off a cop/military vibe as it was. So, I think that was smart, too.

They're saying that the officers don't know the participants are volunteers, but it did seem that they went after Zac a little bit more than they needed to.
