Kate Capshaw would bag Steven Spielberg as a husband 6 years later (after Amy Irving got a sweet, sweet divorce settlement), thus explaining why we didn't see much of her since - mostly TV until 2002 (a couple of films, notably How to Make an American Quilt) - but mostly it's been, Q: "Hey Kate. What you been up to?" A: "Being rich. I married Steven Spielberg. Didn't you hear?"
Director Harry Winer only directed 2 feature films (including Space Camp) - being primarily a television director.
This was a terrible movie that I also enjoyed, baw. I pretty much forgot about it until your post.
I was a nut for anything space-related back then - still am to a degree.

All things considered, that was an insane cast.

Loved it when it came out for two reasons. One, I was a huge space/astronomy nerd and two I had a yuge crush on Lea Thompson.
One of the strangest things to me was Larry B. Scott playing someone other than Lamar from Revenge of the Nerds.

He was in Iron Eagle.

Loved Kelly Preston. I had such a gigantic crush on her. (And probably still would, we're it not for her three-way with John Travolta and Xenu the Space Warlord).
