Cool.. I sent you an email. Our team has some pretty big dudes this year. A few may not make our 145 pound weight limit at 10 years old.

Are there not playground based rec leagues in Baton Rouge?

I mean here in NOLA, you live in St Bernard, you can play in their league, Kenner, their league, Jeff Parish, their league, etc.

Edit: Maybe he should do YMCA tackle football his first year, make sure he learns and likes the game, and go from there. He is 7... he has plenty of time.

Br probably has 6-7 leagues. Would be really nice to see inter league play, but they don't all have the same ages or restrictions. Some are weighted, some are xman leagues, some unlimited.

I'd join the Zachary Jr Broncos. I use to play against them and they were always really good. The SLYFA league is also very good. That's where I'd go but goodluck to you and your son

Posters, has BR always been like this? I grew up in MS and all you did was go to the city rec department every year and get randomly put on a team for the most part.

I know I am I'm truly thankful for this site, I joke about my inner feelings but I'm much more humble than I was.

But deep down don't most of us want that?

What is it from? Idolatry of sport? Celebrity worship?

I don't know, the further I go the more convinced I hit the lottery... It is what it is.

Yeah he's in the 9-10 group. Going to be an intresting year. Sta got the best 7-8 player and 9-10 player from pville.

I would love for my future kid to be recruited .... but I'm definitely not worried about that at age 7. Plenty of avenues for correct development without paying a fortune, burning out your kid and making him hate the sport you want him to love.

I'm not worried as much about him as I am #6.. The white kid for StA. He's a stud.. Only kid to score on our defense all year. #23 doesn't like getting hit too much. Has he gotten too big to carry the ball? That's a solid little dude right there.

Oh I agree. I think I would have burned him out if it weren't for a reality check on this site over the years. I don't coach him now, he's having fun and all....

Everywhere I take the kid people fall all over themselves asking where he plays...I'm always in threads like this because I can't help but think those thoughts.

I'm sure I'm not the only person in this boat. Just keeping it 100

What are your weight restrictions? He's got to be 105 or so. Don't know many kids on their team don't know what kind of support he has

B team is 145. You're right.. He's probably around that weight. I see him growing out of the RB position though. #6 is a slippery little dude... Tough to tackle

That's the fun part, seeing what happens after puberty. He would be my defensive end I can tell you that much.

That's what I would do with him. We have a kid we play at defensive end that's about 5'8 at 10 years old. Fast.. And unblockable. Pretty damn good TE too. Most teams would have him at RB
