People now actually think Stockton was a better player.
Sorry, he was. Wasn't the most athletic guy but played with a ton of heart and made everyone around him better. Played, what 19 seasons? Averaged 2+ steals a game, and had a .50+ shooting percentage? Over a long arse career? That's impressive. Holds the record for assists and steals? Dude is a beast and I'd definitely put him at a close tie with Magic as best PG ever, no question IMO

Rick Majerus said Stockton set some of the best picks in the league. Plus, his ego didn't need a lot of shots.

This but it feels wrong leaving out Duncan
Abdul Jabbar

Magic Johnson
pretty easy, Abdul Jabbar for center, Magic for point, 3 other guys who were the best for a few years
I am not the biggest fan of any of them but it is what it is.

Such an overlooked part of his game, and why he was called a dirty player (I think...). Dude put it all out there, and was usually the smallest guy on the court, but he'd gladly give up his body for a pick.
Missed 22 games in 19 seasons? That's incredible by itself.

I think Kenny Smith put it best when he said he didn't think of Stockton as a pass first guy, but as a guy who looked for the best opportunity.
Not sure the NBA will ever see another Stockton with the way the game has evolved. Not a bad thing, but to not consider him one of the greatest all around PGs ever is insane. CP3 is the closest we have to a Stockton right now, but I can't judge them against each other until CP3's career is over.

Barkley said Stockton was the most underrated star player in the league. The MSB is obsessed with the 'slow white guy' BS, but the guys who played against him know he was legit as hell.

Some of the best players to ever play the game will tell you the same thing. The MSB will have you think otherwise and it's laughable really

Stockton was a stud, but the PG discussion begins and ends with Magic.

If constructing the ultimate team I would probably leave off Magic and just have Jordon and James in the backcourt.
I may lean towards a lineup of
G - James
G - Jordan
F - Durant or Barkley
F - Bird
C - Shaq

Magic is a career 30.3% 3-pt shooter and Jordan is at 32.7%. That isn't anything special.
I wouldn't call LeBron a great 3-pt shooter, yet he is still 34.2% shooter.
