Would Urban Meyer ever leave Ohio State for the NFL?

He's in his early 50's, other successful college coaches such as Spurrier and Saban did, although with not the greatest of success.

Doesn't have the heart for pro ball.

Don't think his heart could handle it.

Heart
Something about his heart
Something about his heart

Les Miles made him cry, I can't see him in the NFL week in week out.

He's working on the best two pound-for-pound, back-to-back recruiting classes of all time in 2017 and 2018. 2018 might beat his all-time best 2009 class from FLA on total points.
CFB is about recruiting, scheme, and assistant coaches. Ohio State has all three in spades.
I think his heart is fine.

OSU is one of only a few schools that recruits itself. The names have changed through the years but OSU has always been a top 10 school for football recruits.
This does not necessarily mean a top 10 football team but it gives you a hell of a head start.

Schools recruit themselves up until they make a terrible hire and set the program back.

Yeah John Cooper had ridiculous classes, Nick Saban, Jimmy Johnson, Pete Carroll classes...John Cooper probably had more NFL talent than anyone in the 90s - Nebraska had great College talent.
To not be in the mix year in and year out at Ohio State comes down to gameday coaching.

If you saw Coop on the sidelines on gameday, you'd see a man literally biting his nails hoping for the best.
He could recruit at an extremely high level, but his leadership lacked, and he couldn't reload high level coaches.
Ohio State's coordinators this year are both two highly successful head football coaches, one of whom lead an NFL squad, albeit unsuccessful.
Meyer struggled plugging and playing with internal guy the last two years and it showed, especially offensively.
When you couple the level of athletes walking through the door, and assistant coaches that can put them in the right spots, it makes your job as head coach a lot easier.
Meyer recruits hard, as does Saban, and Dabo. Those three with a shout out to Jimbo, have shown that recruits trump everything else.
He's not going anywhere for at least 3 years. He's got a pipeline of talent to ride a gravy train for at least that long.

If a Steve Spurrier type contract showed up , 5 years guaranteed, $40 million, he'd have to go

He's getting damn near that now without the headaches of pro ball. $6m+ a year and he has a legitimate shot at creating a dynasty in Columbus with the caliber of recruits coming in.
He's not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
