Bryant had an okay bowl record, but he went 8 bowl games without a single win (1967-74).
"The Tide was all white until 1971. They played in an all-white conference and mostly against all-white non-league foes. This means they did not field the best players from the widest talent pool (which helps explain why they have fewer Heisman winners, All-Americans, and NFL stars than other storied programs). It also means their competition was not quite as good as what other schools, presumptively USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, et al were playing."
