And is UCONN to blame?

There seems to be much more buzz and interest associated with the Women's softball regionals than there was throughout the entire basketball season.

Maybe it was because of the SEC teams getting 5 of the national seeds, and all of them getting to OKC

Women's softball is much more watchable than women's basketball. The game is fast pace and the bitches are kind of hot. Sure they have some dikey ones but the ones that are not are usually adorable. Women's basketball is unwatchable.

I agree with this.

That could have something to do with it.

I watched Auburn vs UCLA Saturday and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Having the team you root for makes a difference

Really? I can make it about 2 outs before I can't take anymore of the players yelling and low on-field IQ.

You pretty much hopped on during a time when it has been more watchable. There have been more higher scoring games in the last few years than your typical 1-0/2-1 type games.

No one cares about softball
It would help if ladies hoops had more parity, it's not just UConn, it's all the top seeds generally have it pretty easy until the Final Four

Personally, I think it's a much, much better product.

But, I doubt it's even close from a numbers standpoint.

Someone on the radio said fast pitch softball is much more exciting to watch than baseball and I tend to agree. The pace of the game holds my attention much longer than baseball or women's basketball which as others have pointed out it is almost unwatchable

At some point the NCAA will need to figure out ways to speed of the game for both women's and men's basketball IMO

No one gives a shite about womens basketball

ok, lesbians and dykes, that's it.

WNBA is so bad, that the NBA forced ESPN to show their games in the past contracts. ESPN fought to try and rid themselves of it.

By contrast:

quote:

ESPN's NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Presented by Capital One Regional Final doubleheader on Monday, March 30, generated the most-viewed and third most-viewed women’s Regional Finals games since 2012. With 1,540,000 viewers, No. 1 seed Maryland’s 58-48 win over No. 2 seed Tennessee — the second game of the network’s exclusive coverage – is the most-viewed women’s Elite Eight game since 2012 (Tennessee-Baylor in 2012 averaged 1,654,000 viewers).

So softball is getting better ratings. Not by much, but I'd guess it is trending up and hoops isn't. UConn's total domination isn't good for the sport, but it's great for UConn.
