Yes
He does not have anything left to accomplish. He came back for the repeat, something they never had done.
I say this is a pretty good resume:
Wooden/Naismith/ACC POY
NBA Champ 5x
Olympics Bronze
NBA MVP 2x
Playoff MVP 3x
ACC Top 50
All Star 15x
All Defense 14x
100 Greatest players of 20th Century list
Player of Decade by SI
He has nothing left to prove to anyone nor should he comeback.
ETA:
His replacement is in France who now just turned 20. He is 6'10 plays a lot like Tim does. They have another draft pick in the Euro League who probably is a better shot but just not as skilled at rebounding.

Nah. I'm positive TD would have went out like Robinson if he didn't think he had anything left. But as it turns out, he can still play at an All-Star level. He had 6 double-doubles vs the Clippers!
Bill Simmons wrote a good article about this:

Also, I don't think LJC or Bertans will ever make it to SA

Tim Duncan will not be replaced.

I felt more like he would last offseason than this offseason. I'm pretty sure Manu's done.

Like when Splitter was supposed to replace Duncan? One does not simply "replace" Tim Duncan, and the dude manages to get it done when it matters.
IMO, he'll be back unfortunately. He still can play at an unbelievably high level for his age.

Well good, Aldridge leaves... Portland ends up being mediocre. Helps the Pels.
I also think Aldridge will go to SA. All signs are pointing to this.

Pillars already demanding a max deal is helping to push him out the door imo

Am I missing something I don't see any signs pointing to SAS. He may want to come back to TX but I don't see why he'd choose SAS over DAL in that case.

I think Charles comes this summer they need to see if time invested is worth it. I think he's very good and very athletic. I know some say he's 6'9" but I always have seen him listed 6'10
Bertans is the 6'10" Russian they got in a trade right? I don't know much about him.
Because Danguvich or whatever his name from last year is over in Euroleague also.

Me and you both man.
I don't see any signs pointing to San Antonio
When has SA ever attracted a big time FA?? Especially with the future of 2 of their best players being questionable and also the head coach
I don't see a single sign pointing to SAS. I could see the mavs though if he was really destined to go back home (which is Dallas not SA).
And then their is all the stuff he has been saying all year how he wants to sign a max deal with the Blazers and retire the GOAT blazer. But I'm just a random guy on a message board so what do I know
This offseason should be interesting! Will probably end up being a dud though.

Yeah, I'm sure he'll come over and probably play in the summer league.
Bertans is basically a younger version of Bonner. He tore his ACL a month or so ago for the second time since he was acquired by the Spurs (in the same trade that we got Kawhi in).

Pretty much this. Last year a guy at the Oregonian started to some stupid rumors as I recall about him being unhappy here but Aldridge has never said anything. Aldridge is a quiet guy. He doesn't care to be the spotlight. He's talked highly of the Blazers and everything I've seen is that he's likely to be back.

quote:You really think Tim Duncan plays basketball because he feels like he has something to prove??? superfans like you seem to think that star athletes have some sort of bizarre obligation to retire before they can no longer play at an elite level, so as to preserve the fans collective precious memory of their greatness rather than tarnish their legacy with possible mediocrity.
He has nothing left to prove to anyone nor should he comeback.
Tim Duncan doesn't play basketball for his legacy. He is a competitor. He plays to compete, and because he loves the game. And he should continue to play, for as long as he damn well pleases, so long as those two things hold true, and he feels that he can contribute.
No one gives a frick about your memories, especially not tim duncan.

Thank you internet tough guy and out of touch with reality. I do not know where you got where he owes me or you anything nor where I am a super fan?
I guess the reading comprehension was not taught in Austin.

Sounds like something Tim Duncan would say.
