I really don't see what is wrong with what he said. PGA has been doing business with him for a while. They know who he is and how he talks, I doubt that they head guys with the PGA were really thrown off.
And yes, he has some of the best courses in the best locations. Most people probably think he should do a public apology for owning such nice things...

You don't know what's wrong with calling Mexican migrants rapists and drug runners?

Only issue I can see is the Golf Channel is owned by NBC...

My only issue with this is that it's a media/news company determining that Trump's statement was insensitive.

Wrong. It's Mexicans being rightfully offended by his comments and telling Comcast and their advertisers that you may want to reconsider your business relationship with this racist if you want us to use your content.

trump's owned doral for only 4 years ... that's not a relationship the tour can't do without ... and the sponsor's reaction is the issue ...

If anyone with a brain thought he was talking about legal Mexican immigrants, I don't know what to tell them.

And NBC was completely silent until Univision went loud with the issue.

Macy's just dumped him too. Pretty sure Univision had nothing to do with that.

He doesn't say shite about legal vs illegal

his brashness is good for publicity, but I'd bet the R&A, who runs the British open, weren't thrilled about him buying turnberry to begin with ... it's not currently scheduled to host an open, and I suspect its chances have taken a hit ... and trump wants to host the open ...

Wasn't he talking in the context of enforcing illegal immigration on our southern border?

Yep...he was:

quote:

When do we beat Mexico at the border? They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity. And now they are beating us economically. They are not our friend, believe me. But they’re killing us economically.

The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems.

(APPLAUSE)

Thank you. It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people.

It’s coming from more than Mexico. It’s coming from all over South and Latin America, and it’s coming probably — probably — from the Middle East. But we don’t know. Because we have no protection and we have no competence, we don’t know what’s happening. And it’s got to stop and it’s got to stop fast.(APPLAUSE)

Are his comments totally erroneous? People need to relax. Geezus.

You can't make offensive generalizations like that, especially without sources and statistics, and not expect backlash if you are a major public figure running for president. He said the Mexican equivalent of "I hate black people, except for the good ones."

what did he say?

1) we're getting less that desirable people from Central America and Mexico because of ILLEGAL immigration (you will note the "illegal" part is ignored in all the reporting about this);

2) The American worker is getting fricked in trade deals because the USA is getting rolled by trading partners.

All true, but in the age of outrage, truth suffers.

You can think that's what he meant, but he shouldn't have used "rapists" to describe them and that some of them are "presumably" good people.

He cites his conversations with Border Patrol agents. And it's a political speech I don't hear Obama cite figures and facts during every speech.

I'm going to go ahead and make a reasonable assumption that these did not happen.
