If Jared Lorenzen can have a career in the area league, Michael Vick will be a 5 time MVP of arena football.

At this point in his career I don't think Vick can be relied upon to start, but I see no reason why he wouldn't be in demand as a backup. Although he is injury prone, the experience is there and I would feel a lot better with him behind center for a spot start that many other backup quarterbacks in this league. Bruce Gradkowski and Blaine Gabbert are both on NFL rosters while this guy is not. Hell, as a Browns fan I would probably prefer Vick to McCown.

His desire to be a starter is what is keeping him from getting work

Yes, because competition is bad.

Michael Vick believes he'll need an injury to get a shot at an NFL roster. Quarterbacks such as Terrelle Pryor, Bruce Gradkowski, Tim Tebow and Blaine Gabbert all have jobs right now. Vick, who turns 35 later this month, is still hoping to get another chance. PFT suggests Vick's stature and desire to start games keeps him from being an ideal backup. He's also proven to be extremely injury-prone and a turnover machine over the last five years.

I don't see how that clarifies. Wanting to compete and be the starter should be a good thing.

Teams either already have a QB competition or don't want one

Or don't want to deal with his injuries and off the field baggage

He's competing with guys like Tavarious Jackson who has no delusions about being a starter, is more durable, and doesn't have any off the field issues

Whether or not there is a QB competition depends entirely on the team. Just because a player wants to start doesn't mean there is a QB competition. shite, I'm sure all backup QBs want to start.

I think it's because (a) he's not very good, (b) he's injury-prone and (c) he turns the ball over too much. That's not really what you're looking for in a backup.

Not buying the "because he wants to start" angle.

If only he was as dedicated at becoming a starting QB as your are to posting on TD.

That's a ridiculous statement.

Last thing I would want as a coach is a player playing as if his job wasn't on the line. But, hey you seem to know what you're talking about...
