We used to bring about 5-7,000 when we played SMU in the WAC.

New Year's Day in Dallas, TX is more attractive than that.

actually having people watch and/or attend the game?

How is this? Smaller projected payout than indy and one that might bring 15-20 thousand total ...no one will watch will all other bowls on that day

meh. it's a bowl game

that's so insignificant in the big picture i can't imagine it means much to the team or administration

with shite bowls like this, the actual game is way down the line in terms of importance

ULM's bargaining power is a lot lower than tech's

New Orleans is a little different than Shreveport.

exactly, nobody is going to watch any of these bowls that are not affiliated with the universities

so why not play a bowl game that might actually get some hype on a local level?

because if you're a player, you want to go somewhere else. they can go to shreveport any day

if you're the admin, the indy is settling in a major way in their eyes

65-75% of your home attendance isn't travelling to a bowl.

Tech has a lot of alumni in Dallas and Houston who don't make it to Tech home games.

Congrats. You have given everyone the biggest reason why Tech is the most delusional fan base in the country. Turning down a bowl whose sponsored by advocare whose CEO is a tech grad for a even more irrelevant bowl after finishing 3rd in the WAC because Tech is too big of a pussy to play ULM

You are clueless. Every non ULM fan that jumped into this thread to call tech pussies is gonna look like fools if tech goes to the Liberty Bowl.

I'm excited, I enjoy making people look dumb.

It's my understanding that Tech has not turned down the Independence Bowl. They just did not accept the invitation when first presented because there might be better options for the players.

Then the Independence Bowl invited ULM.

So Tech is not scared to play ULM, they just prefer another bowl over the Independence Bowl. Any bowl, really.

But now that ULM has been invited, the Independence Bowl is probably not one of the options for Tech.

The vast majority of Tech alums are in Shreveport, Dallas and Houston. Very few remain in Ruston.

They would easily travel 15k to the Ticketcity Bowl.

Sounds like the GoDaddy Bowl is really pushing hard for Arkansas State which would open up a spot in the Liberty for Tech.

In other Bowl news, I've read that WKU might have an agreement with the Little Caesar's Bowl which would mean Middle Tennessee might be left out.

I would personally prefer the Liberty Bowl. I would have a damn good time in Memphis on New Year's Eve.
