Why is holding a penalty in football?

I think the game would be better and make more sense without it. I don't really understand the purpose and thinks it is anti the nature of the game. Like QB hits.

Maybe. People would cherry pick quite a lot and actually might slow the game down.

The WRs could be held as much as the line could be held. I think it would give scrambling QBs a huge advantage.

I think it would be awesome. People would be able to be much more aggressive. A true man's sport.

Soccer would be unbearable without offsides. Everyone would bomb the ball into the box the entire match. Peter Crouch and Gary Caldwell would be more useful than Messi.

Despite his dimunitive size, I feel Chicarito would somehow still manage to score.

The Stoke City robot would make quite a few appearances.

It would literally be impossible to stop the run if holding was legal. What a terrible idea.

The overload blitz would work really well, but bringing pressure with just your front 4 would be impossible.
