Why is football such a target in the media?

There seem to be daily negative stories about the consequences of playing football, most of them aimed at the NFL. What is really driving this?

Genuine concern?
Lawsuit money from concussion related lawsuits?
The fact that women can't play?
NFL policies?

There seems to be an effort from certain parts of society to change the sport in fundamental ways.

Ronda Rousey could probably break the rushing record if she chose to play.

it's a sport that, due to its nature, has no female equivalent

therefore, it is a symbol of patriarchy and male traits that need to be bred from society

therefore, the effects of those traits must be magnified in order to shame them out of existence

I do think there should be some genuine concern.

It takes 20-30 years, or the players death to see these CTE symptoms.

Science has discovered something in the head of these players we could never see before, and the number doesn't appear to be going down. I don't see any rule changing or safety equipment solving this problem either.

I love this game, but I think in a few years it will be an indisputable fact that playing this game can scientificly shorten your life. The average life expectancy an NFL player is 54, that's fricking scary.

I'll assume this is sarcasm, because if not it is a shite post.

not at all. it may be amplified but a big reason why the NFL is a target is because of its success in light of what feminism has done to society in general. football is a vestigial reminder of society prior to the inmates running the assylum. football is anti-progressive orthodoxy and is treated as such by the believers

same reason why the progressive media blames teh NFL for teh concussion/CTE issue and not the real culprit. progressives don't criticize unions

are you arguing that western society hasn't been forced into being very feminized over the past 3-4 decades?

No, I'm arguing your very specific boogeyman as to why football is "such a target in the media".

ETA: It is a very PT board thing to do, which apparently isn't beneath you.

This is the correct answer. He's been whistling through the graveyard for over half a decade, and everyone is keenly aware of his bullshite and open corruption by now. He's an easy target. It's easy to hate people who have no self-awareness that everybody hates him while simultaneously deluding himself that he's a beloved figure.

This might be the most neck-bearded, redpill-frothing-at-the-mouth thing I've ever seen. You're way smarter than this.

The reason for the coverage is simple: It's a major controversy involving the nation's most popular sport. It involves death (of people who've been idealized), money, and cover ups. The media for the most part doesn't give a shite about ideology--it gives a shite about a great story and the viewers it brings. Fox has been covering it. Are they part of the radical feminist conspiracy too?

and the media refuses to even blame the right party who is to blame (the NFLPA)

the game is rigged

since when?

the create markets for these ideologies. hat's why it's easier to blame a "big corporation" like the NFL than a union

It's solely the union's fault why exactly?

I don't know... Since the media was collectively jizzing over the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal.
