Wichita isn't football territory

Wichita is a magic carpet ride that's about to end. They forgot what they were and hoping the move to AAC can save them, it won't. See what it did to Creighton who is much more stable.

The horrible plane accident killed their program. It probably wouldn't have been much more than a bad CUSA squad, but that buried their football future before it really got underway.

Answer:

quote:

No stadium, the plane crash, and the Admins don't want it

Also Gene was like Roy Williams.

If they didn't let Cessna go in disrepair it would be good FCS

How the frick is this an answer?

I love it up here. All the amenities of a big city with a small town feel. Bar scene is decent. Downtown needs a little more work but it's coming along. They just need to finish the damn construction on Kellogg on the east side of town.

I think DBU is the last of their kind in baseball... NYIT dropped out of D1 with a terrible record and attendance that made them wonder why they even played there

My girlfriend plays soccer at newman university here in Wichita and they're in the heartland with dbu. I was thinking how it's weird they're only D1 in baseball when they played this past weekend so I'm kinda glad this ended up being brought up. Haha

Weird to see Wichita being talked about on here. Pedro, you live here now?

A lot of people have hit the nail on the head. Main issues is funding and Title 9. I was in a meeting with the President once when he said the only way WSU was getting a football team was if Charles Koch died and left $200M for that purpose.

Wichita is a large city, but not a football rich area or school. Hell, WSU is still very much in the process of changing its identity away from a commuter school. I think at one point the average age on campus was like 29-31.

One big plus would be the ability to pluck from Jayhawk League JUCO talent, but even that has lost some allure in recent years.

Wichita is an underrated city.

This is weird to read. Nobody from here ever says that.

Interesting to see the city of Wichita getting some love on here. I've known a few folks that used to work at Cargill and they weren't too high on it

Yea I moved up here a couple months back. Im enjoying it so far it's better than any other place I've lived (granted that's Patterson and Monroe Louisiana but still). I think it's a great place.
