If Penn state, Oklahoma, etc. Were undefeated then Clemson would be punished for losing to Pitt dumbass.

IMO I typically think it makes sense for the conference championships to be used to pare down the field. The other problem is PSU lost more games than the other teams and the extra loss was not to a good team. It could be excused if they played a tough OOC and lost to another strong team.

Schedule Holy Cross next year instead of a good ACC team. Lesson learned.

Road non conference loss in September =\= home conference loss in November.
