Why didn't Oregon go for a 2-point conversion?

TCU, obviously, scored 31 straight points on Oregon in the second half. Oregon's drives in the second half consisted of:

quote:

3 plays of -10 yards,
7 plays of 25 yards,
3 plays for 3 yards,
3 plays of 1 yard, and
3 plays of -1 yards.

Absolutely abysmal. The "tenacious" Oregon defense ( ) was rightfully gassed. TCU scored with ease on 4 plays in OT while Oregon relied on converting a 4th down in OT to score.

Your QB is struggling, your defense is spent, all of the momentum and confidence is with TCU...why do you not go for 2 in that situation?

I said that in the game thread.

Oregon should have just bet the house and tried to go home.

They had no momentum and a center who just started playing football hiking to a QB who will sell insurance for the rest of his life.

They were lucky to get to OT b/c TCU played it safe.

Even worse was Arizona State not going for 2 after going up by 5 with like 4 minutes to go in the later bowl game.

Helfrich is a pussy. It's why Oergon fans remain on the fence about the guy. Theres no reason he shouldn't have gone for 2 there. His defense was gassed.

they followed the script

everyone has been killing bowl games for being blow outs, so, a brief case changes hands at half, and suddenly Oregon cannot move the ball vs a bad tcu defense.

game goes from blowout to greatest comeback, people on sports radio talk about it, game of bowl season, bowl season saved.

Coaches, in general, are more afraid of losing then they are brave in winning.

Any decent coach goes for 2 with their backup QB and an exhausted D.

Helfrich not only was a pussy but he made an actual coaching error
