When listening to game broadcasts or any NBA talks - LBJ is hardly even mentioned with the top MVP candidates... are people simply overlooking his amazing year because they are expecting him to keep improving?

The most popular picks for MVP thus far have been: Curry, Harden, Davis...

Where does he rank in your MVP candidates? and what does he have to do to cement himself as the #1 choice?

Because if anyone else averaged 27-8-8, it would be absurd. When LeBron does it, it's what he's supposed to do. It's horseshite but it is what it is

He missed ~10 games. As the season progresses people will warm up to him.

If he finishes the 2nd seed and 26\6\8 he has a pretty good shot. Needs to get his TOs down though.

Harden has been putting up similar #s without Howard and leading them to a better record in a better conference so far. He is more deserving at the moment

This.

It's a shame that greatness can be overlooked so easily...

Because it only really became a discussion in the last week or so. They sucked and then he was hurt. If they played great out of the gate there wouldn't have been voter fatigue IMO, the media is ready to love lebron after the return. If the Cavs finish with the best record from here out and lebron plays like this I bet he wins it.

Because many NBA experts don't think he is the most valuable player in the game right now

There are guys right now with beastly seasons.

LeBron would rather NBA titles than MVP titles though

Considering that's not what LeBron is averaging this year, I'm not sure what you are mad about. As for why he's not in the MVP talk this year, it's because he doesn't belong in the MVP discussion this year, plain and simple. You can have a talk about him being the best in the world (Most people recognize that Durant is the better player), but it's clear cut that the top two guys this season have been Curry and Harden followed by Davis and then a sizable gap before anyone else.

This is true, also.

He has had a couple of games this year with upwards of 7-8 TO's. No way that should happen.

Must also be Lebron fatigue; he's only played in 80% of this season's games. Considering that there are players who have missed nearly no games and who have gleaned per-game stats that are nearly as impressive as his, it should come as no surprise that he isn't at the top of the list at this point.

That said, I consider myself a casual James fan and expect and hope for him to perform greatly in the remaining 32 games and re-insert his name legitimately into the MVP conversation.

Kevin Durant won MVP last year by a huge margin, had the higher PER and more win shares last year and has a higher PER this year and more Win Shares per 48 as well.

So statistically he's better and he passes the eyeball test with MVP voters.

So who's the idiot again?
