Who else here wants the current bcs system to stay in place

rather than a playoff? Yes, there needs to be some tweaking with the formula, but I like it. A playoff would pose the same problems that the BCS has; there is no way to evaluate all these teams on an even scale.
I think the problem lies in the voting. How in the hell can you tell who is the top 25 teams? You can't. It's a bunch of bs.
I'm only bringing this up because of the current government involvement bs we keep hearing about. I hope they stick to the more important issues in Washington.

since USC has more bye weeks than LSU it would give them an unfair advantage if non-conference champions where allowed in a playoff

The NCAA has been selecting teams for a playoff in many sports except FBS football for decades. It's not perfect, but light years better than a voting system.

No matter what system is in place, someone, somewhere will complain. If its an 8 team playoff, the 9th or 10th team that would have the same record will still complain.

I would like to think that any SEC team has a seat at the head table if they win out. But then you think about Auburn in 04.

I like it, no other sport has a shorter season than college football. Every game is very important to teams with championship aspirations. I would like to see a four team playoff, but no more.
NFL is the best team at the end of the season, NCAA FB is the best team over the course of the season.
Fresno St was one of the worst teams in the 64 team college baseball postseason and they got hot/lucky and won the whole thing. Is that good? Rewarding someone for their entire season vs rewarding them for the end of the season creates a different type of excitement.

We need a playoff system but not one legislated by that bunch of dipshits in Washington DC.
However, the present system has been quite good to LSU.

No doubt. But I'd rather have that argument than arguing about the two teams who should be in the NCG when we have 5 undefeated teams.

I would at least like LSU to have a chance when so many people think Bama is going to win the SEC every year til Saban leaves.

Because it's more fair? How so? Number 5 will bitch if they don't get in. The teams will still be picked with a far from perfect coaches poll, AP poll, and other bullshite.

If anything, the SEC should love the BCS. Voters basically give the nod to a one loss LSU over a non SEC undefeated team.

Again, the NCAA doesn't use these polls in other sports when selecting teams. I don't know why you think they would use them for an FBS playoff.

They bitch about the the BCS every year. Your just happy becuase we were lucky to be in the big game in 07' on recognition alone. How do you think other schools feel. Let's settle the shite on the field, I saw someone with a 16-team playoff system earlier this wek that looks like it could work.
The BS was just a f-up' experiment that is critized every single year.

Get rid of the BCS, go back to bowl tie-ins. 3 o4 teams with a chance to win the national title on New Year's Day. It made the bowls more fun to watch.
