Mt Union has won 111 straight regular season games. They are 221-1 in the regular season since 1994.

This is almost statistically impossible considering the odds and chances.

My godfather is a Mount grad so I've been to several games with him. They really are like a machine.

It might be D3 football, but their run should be recognized more, seeing how it's still going.

It's a regular season winning streak

Wisconsin-Whitewater has their number in title games winning it all in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014

Mount Union has played for the title in 18 of the last 20 seasons

You may as well count The Undertaker's Wrestlemania streak.

On the surface, sure, but they play 9 regular season conference games a season and only 1 out of conference game. Their conference isn't very good - at all - and they're an absolute powerhouse.

I mean it is very impressive against anyone, don't get me wrong, this isn't as impressive as USC or Miami's 34 straight games, considering the parity between the divisions. Mount Union has won 55 and 54 straight games, playoffs included, FWIW.

I'm not sure how more wrong you can be. But then again it's the MSB.

Considering he was going against the best of the best, year after year, I'd say Alexsandr Karelin has to be right at the top.

He had a record of 887-2. 13 straight years of being undefeated and string of 6 straight years w/o giving up a point.

Orel Hershiser, 59 consecutive scoreless innings

From Sept. 5 to Sept. 28, 1988, the Dodgers’ Hershiser was almost untouchable. In his first five starts of the streak, he threw complete-game shutouts; in the sixth, he threw a 10-inning shutout and broke Don Drysdale’s major league mark of 58 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings. Then, in the first game of the NLCS, Hershiser didn’t give up a run until the ninth inning, running his total streak to 67 innings.

I forgot about this. 59 consecutive scoreless innings is pretty damn impressive.

Karelin graduated from the Novosibirsk Institute of Transportation, followed by the Siberian Academy of Physical Culture, a military school of the Soviet Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD USSR) and the Saint Petersburg University of MVD USSR. In 1998 he defended a PhD and in 2002 a habilitation in sport-related pedagogy; he also holds a degree in law. LINK

I'm feeling pretty lazy right now.

Care to offer your reasoning?

Mount Union is significantly, overwhelmingly better than the teams in Division III during their run, particularly the 55 and 54 game overall streaks. That division is prone to things like this - Wisconsin-Whitewater pulled off 46 straight games a few years ago.

Are you suggesting there is more parity in Division III than there is in Division I?

Since 2005, only 3 teams have played for the Division III National Championship. So, out of a potential 22 spots, 3 have played there. And of those spots, Mount Union and Wisconsin-Whitewater have taken 20 of them.

If DIII had it's own dictionary, "Parity" would not be in it.

Sure, the streak is impressive, but not the most impressive in sports. The Division just isn't that good when 2 teams have dominated for a decade, and one of those has dominated for 20 years.

Did I say that? But to win 221 of 222 games is more impressive than 34 no matter how you slice it.
