It seems like staying in Oakland and going back to LA are less likely at this point. Will they end up moving to San Antonio? This report claims Mark Davis has already purchased land between SA and Austin. Would Jerry and Bob McNair be able to block such a move? Where else could the Raiders end up if not there?

Oakland is actually more likely now than it has ever been.

How much will it cost to renovate the county stadium for football only? Seems like that's the only option since the A's are adamant about having a new baseball-only park.

Nah renovating isn't an option. I remember when that was mentioned before and the cost to renovate that dump would almost equal a new stadium. Was quickly dismissed as a non option.

I bet both the Raiders and A's get new stadiums. Was Oakland's original and best plan that also got the furthest, Coliseum City with both new venues, tons of restaurants, condos, apartment buildings, malls, office space, etc. Taxpayers are starting to come around to putting up money lately. It'll happen.

The Warriors are moving to San Fran. You would think Oakland has to fight to keep their other big team.

No one goes to A's games. They need to focus on the Raiders.

I just wish they'd go anywhere that don't have to play the first half of the season on a baseball field of dirt.

Two of the most powerful owners want no part of Mark Davis in Texas so Mark Davis will not be going to Texas.

Raiders have 2 options:

Wait for San diego to make their decision, and if they stay in SD, they have the next invitation to LA.

If San Diego does leave for LA, they are being offered a ton of cash to help build a stadium. And he would take on partners.

That's it

Mark Davis doesn't have a pot to piss in, if any land was purchased, it wasn't with his cash. And if there are no PF Changs whithin driving distance, it will never be a go.

The county is stil paying for the renovations from the mid-90's when the Raiders returned to Oakland. Doubt they would fork over more dough for the Coliseum

Davis has 500 million, NFL gave 100 million, stadium in the plans is 900 million. 300 million may sound like a big gap but it's really not.

Davis wants the land for free, Oakland initially said no, now they're saying they'll lease it to him for next to nothing and throw in grounds maintenance or w/e they call it for free (lighting, landscaping, parking, etc).

They're actually not that far off at all, which is why the Raiders have the best chances to get a new stadium in their current city while SD is an extreme longshot and will have to settle for the LA venture despite Spanos not wanting to, he isn't going to have a choice unless a miracle happens in SD. He burnt just about every bridge possible in SD. Quite the opposite for Davis and Oakland.

Raiders will have a new stadium in Oakland and it won't take that long to get there either. It will happen.

quote:

For now the Raiders head back to the negotiating table $100 million closer to their funding goals. When they left the table, there was a $400 million funding gap. Lowering it to $300 million could be fairly significant.

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf said she's open to leasing the team land at the coliseum site at a favorable price and sacrificing development opportunities to preserve parking spaces for tailgaters an issue that's been a top priority for team owner Mark Davis.

Schaaf said she's open to leasing the Raiders land near the Coliseum BART station at a favorable price, while sacrificing possible development to preserve the tailgating experience for fans. "We can guarantee at least 8,000 surface level parking spaces in that coliseum area and a new stadium and the development that we believe can create a revenue flow that can finance the whole thing," she said.

I'd like to be a NFL owner without "a pott to piss in".

There are a ton of places they could go next (I wouldn't say "end up" b/c the next move very well might not be the last). Here are some of the candidates (IMO this is most to least likely):

Split the stadium w/ 49ers: this seems the most logical. There is a new stadium in the area and the would like to split it
Stay in Oakland: I think this is the preferred option for the Raiders, but I don't think they will pay for it on their own and I don't think Oakland will give them a high enough offer to make it workable
LA (if Chargers don't go)
San Antonio
London
Las Vegas
San Diego

Portland makes some sense.
same time zone. tv sets matter a lot.
cheap short flight from Oakland for existing fans.

no idea if Portland has a decent stadium.

Old school son, you must be a young one ? Almost all teams played this way for years. Not a Raiders fan but do watch their home games when they're on b/c of the nostalgia.

Watched the "Holy Roller" game on a Montgomery Ward color TV.
