Chiefs would be smart to offer early 4th round pick for him

QB draft class is way too questionable

unless that contract is structured really strangely, he'll most likely be collecting fat stacks on the bench in seattle

and i don't mean this in any negative way towards flynn. the cap implications of trading/cutting him probably outweigh his cap impact staying on the roster.

Good point. Rookie contracts going down trend towards your conclusion as well

Beat me to it. I think he could help the chiefs or Cardinals. But hes stuck in Seattle for a few years. He's getting paid well for it though.

i still think with how cheap rookie contracts are now, teams are going to start giving up on young QBs quicker and quicker

I would imagine he would just be cut.

Any number of teams would give him a fair shot at starting. Assuming they don't draft a high QB, then he really won't have much of a shot.

The Raiders, Jets, Chiefs, Eagles, Cardinals, Bills and Minnesota are all teams I think he would get a fair chance at starting assuming they don't go drafting a 1st or 2nd round QB next April.

Flynn received a signing bonus of $6 million and a guaranteed base salary of $2 million in 2012. While not peanuts, it’s less than 50 percent of the top of the market.

Things get interesting in 2013, when Flynn has another fully guaranteed $2 million but a non-guaranteed total salary of $5.25 million.

Here are his cap numbers:
2012: 2,000,000 2,000,000 4,000,000
2013: 5,250,000 2,000,000 7,250,000
2014: 6,250,000 2,000,000 8,250,000

with the rookie scale as it is now, QB's are gonna get a 2 year window. if you can't produce in 2 years they will cut bait.

would not shock me at all to see ponder and gabbert on the bench somewhere

Jumping from 4 million to over 7 million next year will lead to cut or trade

Normally, but since Wilson is making the league minimum they don't have a ton of money tied into the position. I could see him staying another year unless they really need to free up space.

Wilson won't be making league minimum next season, granted it doesn't go up considerable but it does go up. His cap hit would only be 635 thousand because base pay jumps to 480k
