For California, Jonathon Blum was a bust, Brett Sterling scored 55 goals in an AHL season but was never a good NHL player, Brooks Orpik was only born in San Francisco not California raised, Beau Bennett and Emerson Etem are Ok.

Tyler Myers was born in Texas but is Canadian. Same for Sean Couturier in Arizona. Dan Hinote is the only Florida player of note. Dallas Eakins is also Canadian.

Are we not counting the additions to the Ducks' roster in D2?

Bobby Ryan grew up in Cali when his dad bolted there to evade a jail sentence in New Jersey.

When did Ryan move to Cali? He played for the LA Junior Kings, but his bio says he attended grade school in New Jersey. He's kind of a hybrid.

Next Year.

LINK

To be fair AZ has had NHL hockey since 96. Matthews was born in 97. They didn't build a bunch of ice rinks for youth hockey till about 99. Before that it was a sport you probably only played if your parents did.

Yeah Matthews could be a good one. I wonder if he will really play in Switzerland next year. NLA is a very good league. That would be an interesting development.

Ok gonna guess....never. For Florida at least. Does anyone even play hockey here? I rather hockey take over than soccer, but that ain't happening.

Yes. The sport is growing. You are seeing sports like Rugby and Lacrosse grow, and soccer's talent influx is noticeable. It's a matter of time. Youth programs just need to grow a bit more.

Yes, but I'm not sure how the level of play compares to the rest of the country. Hockey is fairly big along the Gulf Coast (at least from Tampa southward) because of the Lightning.

I know maybe 3 kids who play ice hockey. It's not that big at all and of course the ones who follow it are Yankees. I did hear the Panthers saying they are getting huge turnout for their camps though.

Brian Leetch was born in Corpus Christi. Pretty good since he is in the Hall of Fame.

Seth Jones?

He was born in Arlington. Though he first learned to play hockey while living in Denver, the family moved back to DFW and he played while there.
