When do we stop calling 12 over 5 and 11 over 6 wins upsets?

These aren't upsets anymore. Happens all the time and they still call them upsets. NDSU had the best player in the game tonight in #24 even though he didn't have a great game and NC State 'should've' won their game.
With the parity in CBB I just don't think the teams in these games are that different.
These 12 and 11 seeds are normally very veteran semi-talented teams too.

When the 12 and 11 seeds win more than the 5 and 6 seeds?
Posted on 3/20/14 at 9:35 pm to Hog Springs
They're only upsets in the respect that it proves that RPI means exactly jack shite

Uh, they pretty much do now man.

12 over 5 is almost cliche now. Amazing.

How many 12 and 11 seeds have won in the round of 64 in the last 5 years?

12s have won more than the 5s the past 5 years or so
It's not suprising because 5 seeds are usually middling teams that are either not playing well at the moment and peaked back in January
12 seeds are usually the best of the mid major conference winners and no one knows how truly good they are because of the schedule they played.

They either do or don't.

Since 2009 12 seeds are 12-10

congratulations on your really bad post
sure, rpi is a shitty formula, but an underdog winning does not prove that

We don't. They're still upsets.
Unlikely events happen all the time. People win the lottery every week. It doesn't mean that they're still not unlikely events.

i would even almost extend it to 13s.
there is so much parity in college basketball nowadays because talent development is better all across the country so there are way more good players to go around, and the best leave for the NBA

13 seeds are 7-18 since 2008
Posted on 3/20/14 at 9:59 pm to Hog Springs
Upsets don't really start till 1-2 seeds lose. Anything else, shouldn't really be considered an upset.
