Will everyone look back and laugh at how stupid the BCS was? and how stupid it was to let writers decide?

This year is a perfect example of how stupid the BCS is....tons of 1-loss teams, one undefeated team, and a few 2-loss teams that are more feared than half the one-loss teams. i'm sad that we aren't now gearing up for an 8 or 16 team playoff that would start in a couple weeks and run through the end of the year. Alabama or Notre dame might end up on top, but we'd have some awesome football games to watch on the way.

Well, the BCS was definitely better than the previous alternative..but this new playoff is what they should have gone to years ago.

Only if they stop letting writers decide in the future. Otherwise the playoffs will be just as big a farce.

Look at this year...Oregon should be playing Notre Dame. We learned last year that finishing second in your division is better than winning a power conference, so why not be consistent and apply that same rule again?

I believe there's going to be some sort of selection committee? Or maybe I dreamed that up.

Pretty sure that's the case.

well it's foolish to argue that Oregon is better than Bama or vice versa, and it would be foolish for the writers to vote one team better just because they are mad another team got overlooked. besides, if there was any year the writers should have bucked the system it was last year; the mulligan Alabama got was disgraceful to football. they should have voted either LSU or OkSt. #1 if they wanted to make a point.

4 is better than 2 and will eventually lead to 8 or even more, though. Once the kinks get worked out they'll expand.

It's not really. The BCS was meant to do ONE thing, put #1 vs #2 in a bowl game, and it does that. Prior to BCS that seldom if ever happened. Sure there are problems, but the BCS didn't introduce any new problems that didn't already exist. Blame College Football and it's stupid format of not having a playoff. But don't blame the BCS.

eh, I don't want to see the day that Ohio State rests their starters against Michigan because they have a playoff spot sewn up...

4 teams is perfect. There's always going to be someone that feels like they should have made the cut. How often has the #5 team really had a compelling case to play for the NC?

Agreed, think about how much teams change throughout a year, especially those with new Quarterbacks (cough..ahem..LSU, Texas A&M). Nodbody wants anything to do with teh Aggies right now..and those guys in a playoff would be awesome. in a 4 team race they are left out.

the NC should be about who had the best full season, not who got hot at the end.

This would be monumentally STUPID.

Should it ? So a team is not allowed to get better as the season goes ? You lose the first 2 games and you should just pack it in ?

This year. Florida or Georgia. Because odds are the selection committee would not have had Georgia, Florida, and Bama in a 4 team playoff. They likely would have picked Oregon 4th

8 teams would be bad, 16 would be a travesty.

Couldn't disagree more, that's what sports are now.

MLB, NFL, it's about who is the best at the end of the year.
