Who cares? Dude isn't a jackass off the field, works hard and has become a wrecking force in the field. He's one of the most current prominent NFL players without a doubt.

What is a phony and a fraud in sports?

Phony and fraud means you're trying to capitalize and make money off your name as much as possible.
Deion did it more than anyone...he was a fraud, but on the field? Nope.
JJ might be a typical athlete shill and phony off the field trying to promote themselves...but on the field?
Which athlete isn't a fraud off the field?
John Daly? And where is he? Parked outside of Hooters.
He probably even played up his rebel smoking fat everyman guy act.

God forbid someone tries to earn as much as possible during a short career. I can't tell which I am tried of; jj watt douchery or the people who complain about it.

To me, a fraud is someone who preaches values that he does not live up to. Mark Jackson and Lance Armstrong are frauds. JJ Watt is a harmless douche.

I get the people who think JJ is a douche. He's got that personality that if he's not on your team he will get on your nerves.
However, JJ is one of the best defensive players of all time already and every "douchey" thing he does is not done with bad intentions. He's not beating women, knocking up tons of women, smoking dope, or any other common illegal/immoral activity that is prominent among pro athletes.
He's capitalizing on his opportunity and receives more hate for it than most others who have done the same.
Disclaimer: I'm a Texans fan so as long as JJ is producing, I don't give a shite what he does off the field.
