That's what I was thinking as well. In the men's game there is no way a player like Maya Moore would stay for more than a year. If Anthony Davis had played 4 years at Kentucky it would have been a Wooden type run for them.
The only real way to fix it is for more girls to start playing basketball. Right now there are probably only like 4 or 5 really good players per year. And Geno gets 2 of them at least. If that number simply doubled to 9 or 10 really good players, he still would get 2 or 3 but it would give another coach a fighting chance to compete.

But you can ALWAYS lose in men's college because there is enough talent...and so many players and schools.
Just look at UNLV and Phi Slamma Jamma - stacked teams with NBA stars for 3 years that lost.
Women's college basketball is even above what Wooden did or Tark or Georgetown.

The UConn advantage is almost impossible to overcome now. They have so much more money coming in than everyone else in the sport.
They always fly charter.
When they play in New Orleans, they stay at the Ritz Carlton.
When they play in Chicago, they stay at the Four Seasons.
Those girls get perks like Top 10 football program players get.

UConn Men's basketball has 20 players in their Ring of Honor...and they've been playing basketball since 1901.
UConn Women's basketball has 19 players in their Ring of Honor and they've been playing basketball since 1985.

I don't like UCONN dominance. One program butchering every opponent is not entertainment. It reminds me of when my younger cousin started playing football on SAGA. He scored 84 points in the first half running the same play and formation. Lol

Best players and the best coach.

What makes UConn so invincible in women's basketball?
The same thing that makes women's basketball unwatchable.

I can't put into words how much I hate women's basketball and UCONN. People keep trying to celebrate a joke sport and lauding empty accomplishments. I am a fat 42 year old guy and could grab a bunch of random guys from the park, train for maybe a month and we would destroy that team in a game. Same with women's softball and hell even volleyball. Why would people even watch it? Maybe if you have a kid that plays for them, but otherwise, why waste your time?

It's women's basketball that's why

If UCONN and Geno don't exist, neither does the sport.

i WONDER HOW THE NUMBER OF TRULY ELITE WOMEN'S PLAYERS TODAY COMPARES TO THE NUMBER OF ELITE MEN IN THE 60'S TO EARLY 70'S.
may be the same sort of thing going on
(sorry about all caps had it on, don't care to retype it)

Maybe basketball if you found guys that played in HS and had one or two studs. Softball, really doubt it and not even possible without a great pitcher. And volleyball, no way in hell.

I agree that there is no reason to watch it. They have poor fundamentals in the game and the product just doesn't compare to mens games.
Tbf, you aren't pulling some random fat guys like yourself and beating a top women's volleyball team. That's one sport where I think they would hold their own more than a sport like basketball. Volleyball comes off as more of a skill sport than bball when men are playing women

I don't know why people keep creating this topic, it's been beaten to death and I think everyone agrees the sport is substandard and not fun to watch.

Early in the season UConn played S.Car on its home court, 1 vs 3, and UConn won by 35+ points. Look at some of the other scores in the tournament, numerous 30 point wins by several teams. Baylor beat one team by 60+. In the tournament. Zip competition.

Their backups are easily the 2nd best team in the country.

No you would not
They have a squad of male students that are former HS basketball players they scrimmage against everyday. These guys get perks like gear, training table, class credit and they go full out against the UCONN women everyday.
I went to a coaching clinic and the speaker had a video of UCONN women in a drill where it was three UCONN women on defense vs EIGHT men and they had to stop them twice in a row to rotate out. These women were beating the shite out of those guys. It was utter chaos in the drill but effective and those girls were physically and mentally tough
When I was a student LSU women would play with us in the REC and they were tough back then.

Geno gets top talent that fits together, he creates an ultra competitive environment and their peer to peer leadership is second to none. Keeping them four years only intensifies their strengths as a team and as individuals
