What is it going to take for football to become run first again?

Two Super Bowls were lost due to OCs loving the pass way too much. Nothing is wrong with passing, but today's OCs seem to pass in situations where running the ball is the safest, soundest play. As a Bama fan I have seen my fair share of stupid OCs passing to defeat. Are any of the GMs and HCs ever going to realize that playing it safe with the run can get you wins?

That'll never happen.

Though your OP question and your actual post are 2 entirely different points.

The two best QB's in the league this year were in the Superbowl. Both teams use running back by committee of no names.

So never as long as the rules are like they are now.

the rules favoring passing and lack of true talent at cb that can match up with wr's and the current rules means nfl will stay a passing league.

Maybe 1 team did.

1 team has a current 2 time Pro Bowler who led the league in rushing TDs last season and was 2nd team All Pro.

Football is a quarterback driven game these days. The team with the best quarterback usually wins

Yeah, that was REALLY bad play calling. I guess when you have Matt Ryan and Julio, you forget about common sense. Run the ball 3 straight times there and kick the winning FG. Falcons have to be so sick right now.

I think it all has to do with RPO's. So long as rules allow for linemen to be downfield on passes, I don't think schemes will revert to pure huddle-called power runs.

You really think any running back on either of those rosters could go to another team and be a feature back with no real back up? They excel where they are but I don't think they could.

Devonte Freeman could. It's probably obvious he's legit good.

situation

I bet ATL staff wishes they had called one more run play than they did.

Personally, I would have gone for it on 4th after the sack.

I and Bradshaw were in agreement when NE got the ball on the 9.
Brady is going to drive & score and the only question will be about the 2 point conversion. But he is going to slice and dice and get in the end zone for sure.

if you go for it on 4th and don't make it, Brady scores with enough time for you to mount your own drive.

Maybe Coleman but I'm not convinced. No way Freeman holds up on a Gurely or AP type workload. Only guy for New England that could possibly handle the workload is Blount but he's not explosive enough to be a stand alone back. He needs a guy like White to spell him and be more dynamic out of the back field.

In 2016, Gurley had 321 touches (rushing and receiving combined). In 2015, Freeman had 338 touches (rushing and receiving combined).

Why not? Just cause?

ETA: Freeman has had a TOTAL of 16 less carries than Gurley in the past 2 seasons combined.
