What happened to "Indisputable visual evidence?"

Wasn't this supposed to be the standard for replay? Wasn't the call on the field supposed to stand unless it was blatantly obvious the call was wrong?
It seems now that 51% confidence that the call should be overturned is enough to shift the call. It's rampant in NFL and college.
Is it better this way? I don't think "indisputable" should be the standard, but at least there should be a damn good reason to overturn the call on the field.

The inconsistencyin how it's called is the problem. Some weeks indisputable is the standard, other weeks it's not.

Most people don't know how to apply a standard. I agree with your post. The standard is not "hey bud, what do you think the call should be?" The standard is " can you say with 100% slam dunk certainty that the call was wrong."

The only problem is the inconsistency. Did I spell that right? Anyways, that's the problem. One crew won't call shite. The next are are Pac 12 crews and call EVERYTHING. It's horrendous. Defensive players have no idea how to play from week to week.

It's changed alot for sure. I remember when they first started using replay you needed one single camera show for 100 percent fact that the call was wrong to be able to overturn the call on the field. Now you can patch two or three camera shots to make an obvious conclusion.

quote:Agreed. They really need to disband the conference refs and just go with FBS refs. Score them on how good they do, and put the best refs at the biggest games.
The only problem is the inconsistency

It hasn't changed at all. The thing about standards of review is that they are arbitrary from the beginning.
